When's the last time God had to pay for highway expansion?

Saw this on some Moran's bumper as we all traveled over the newly completed Interstate flyover as tons of us came home from Thanksgiving.

1. Give unto Caesar...
They forget that part of the New Testament.

They also miss Jesus being facetious when he tells them to sell their clothes to buy a sword. Obviously Jesus did not believe in "concealed carry!"

2. Just what exactly does god need money for?
a real god would have neither desire nor use for money.

4. Thats from James T Kirk.

What does God need with a space ship?

However people can use money to help other people, which is the idea of charity by money donations.

Kirk's comment even expands to the concept, what really could man ever do for God. And sort of why I think, if possible, being nice to other people is something we can do. Although I also figure there is much more I still need to learn also. I really think loving your neighbor is also a way to show love to God. Although I could do better at that also.

3. The difference is, a) the IRS exists, and b) doesn't want to run your sex life.
Those two, alone, are significant differences.

6. 10% tithe was just the beginning. Add first fruits, and another half dozen, and
we are up to just about now. Oh, and then, church didn't just pay for churchy crap, they were the agreed upon societal mechanism for social safety net, such as it was. I'm sure you had zoning officers, telling the lame and ill, deformed etc, not to enter the city gates. Beggars were only allowed to hit up the travelers and such. Sorta like hotel taxes. Get the visitors. All this stuff is ancient.

That is why Jesus said, the poor, they will always be with you. Just as the rethugs say Obama is a liar for saying his stimulus package would be more effective, so too do the idiots want to throw out the baby with the bath water. Gov is not the enemy. Just cuz one guy failed with using gov. does not logically follow that all will.

The fight is now that the religious right, are fighting for turf. They want all the social safety net. Coincidentally proselytizing. And they will decide who is worthy. Like the inquisition, only more bureaucratic.

7. When God starts buying surface-to-air missiles, 10% won't be good enough anymore
This is what 10 percent buys...

This is what 39.6 percent buys...

9. I'm in a medium town and there are 100s of churches!
A lot of that money churches collect ends up in the form of gaudy buildings all over my town. On Sundays none of the church parking lots are even a third full. You would think that since they are all Christain churches they could share buildings and use money to help the poor, the sick and the downtrodden. But no, people seem to love huge, materialistic churches to satisfy their egos.

This isnt an attack as much as it is a question about why all the tens of thousands of Christian religions can't get along and work together. Every time I drive by an empty church I think of how wasteful it is. And I wonder why even Christians cant get along with each other and learn what ever two year old is taught, and 'share'.

I believe Jesus said "a 'church' was wherever two or more Christians were gathered". Too bad so many are obsessed with all the man made religious trappings and rituals that have nothing to do with Jesus' teachings.

This might sound callous to some, but I wish people would stop building new churches until they fill the ones they already have. Doesn't that sound more 'christian' than the current system where there is so much waste there is little left over to help those in need? Hummm, what would Jesus do?

Just curious...
