A local TV channel referred to Fred Phelps crew as "war protesters"
So my friend sent them an email:

Fred Phelps and his crew are not ‘war protestors’ as reported last night on 10 pm news.--- but homophobes looking for attention as I know you are well aware. That piece was an insult to all anti-war protestors who have been on the streets in Kansas City weekly since long before the war began and who would never think of protesting the funeral of a soldier who was honorably serving his country regardless of however misguided the leadership of his country that wasted his life.

So why did you mischaracterize them as such last night? A statement correcting would be appropriate and appreciated. I will watch you once more tonight for retraction and if not made, it will be my last time to turn to TV5 for News.

Additionally, hit piece on herbal remedies smelled of paid infomercial from pharmaceutical companies.

Many of my friends name TV5 as the worst in KC. I tend to leave you on because that is where I usually am at 9 pm but after that hit on ‘war protestors’ I will make it a point to change channels in the future unless I hear a correction tonight.

Sincerely,

1. thank you for your protest. I wouldn't be surprised if the local rags here did the same-- they are
completely worthless, as is the daily fishwrap.

4. At least the Kansas City Star seems to have gotten the story right..
See the top post on our "Home" page....it's a McClatchy web site that refers to a Kansas City Star web site. Maybe McClatchy owns the Star?

6. The RW was trained to write angry letters, we were trained to boycott. Result: THEY WIN.
The RW does believe that Phelps is a left-winger, and all we do is become very quiet to them.

Maddening.

7. It doesn't help that Phelps WAS a registered Democrat
He even worked on Clinton's campaign in Kansas in either 92 or 96. There's a picture of him and Al Gore the local repukes bring out once in awhile.
