why don't they focus on figuring out how to scan cargo/baggage (where the real threat is) and checking access to planes by contract and general employees before they subject the flying public to any more shit?
but if someone wants to bring down a plane, cargo is the easiest way to do it...or sneak something in through an airport employee who has access to planes.
and while it appears relatively unobtrusive, i doubt that it is inexpensive. several layers, highly trained...would cost $$$ to implement here...but i would prefer it to what we do now...
but the technology they have isn't cheap either. they do a lot more video surveillance than we do...have very complicated software that can identify odd/suspicious behavior. on the other hand, they are much more efficient at this whole security thing than we are. i think if we were REALLY interested in doing security right we could implement more of what they do...
