About those "security theater" and "they do it so much better overseas" memes -
not to mention the theory that " trained officials can spot a bomber by engaging in simple conversation with the passengers" -

The Shoe Bomber passed through Israeli security on an apparent test run and wasn't stopped. When he first attempted to board the Paris-Miami flight, he was stopped and questioned by security officials at the airport. Despite this close scrutiny, he was allowed to board his flight the next day, when he made the attempt to bring down the plane.

The Underwear bomber passed through security at Amsterdam. He carried a binary explosive - the PETN and TAPN in his underwear and the detonator - a syringe of acid.

our threat level would go down if we ended the occupations. But that would mean disrupting Business as Usual so convincing you that being felt up is necessary for the next installment of National Security Theater is the more profitable way to go.
