Freepers swoon, melt, & salivate over Palin's "10 Qualifications Over Five Recent Presidents"
The thread: 10 Qualifications Sarah Palin Has Over Five Recent Presidents (Part One)

The "qualifications"...

1. Ten years in municipal government
2. Ten years volunteer work in the Parent-Teacher-Association
3. Two years pro-life advocacy
4. One year as an oil and gas commissioner
5. Two and a half years governing the largest state in America ("Unfortunately, she stepped down 16 months shy of a full term. When you look at that as a percentage, however, Palin actually served two-thirds of her term ... the precise percentage Barack Obama served of his term in the senate.")

The responses:

A birth certificate.

sorry, but real-world experience and actually being in touch with the common man just doesn’t matter.
Unless she’s a lawyer or a college professor, she just isn’t qualified.....(I really hope I don’t have to point out my sarcasm)

The piece above is not only well written, it’s very well-reasoned.

I've always said that Governor Palin's experience at the local level has helped her tremendously, and is actually far more experience than being in Congress itself.

People, including the usual gang of anti-Palin sharks who are circling this thread and will hit F5 to post the usual "She's a quitter" garbage, have always looked down on Palin's local experience, which makes them no different than the elitists snobs who are angry that Palin didn't rise to power under the usual set of circumstances for females in politics (rich hubby/privileged background/slept way to top, etc.)

Excellent article, thanks for the post.

Thanks for the ping.

That’s one powerful article, and underscores a great many things about the Guv that her supporters know well. I’m saving it for future reference.

I think another reason she is better than the last 5 Presidents is she is smoking hot.

To me, she looks sort of idiotic. But one man's ceiling is another man's floor, I guess...

2. It's tough to preside over barren wilderness for 2 1/2 years.
She's basically one step above Grizzly Adams.

Well...Mamma Grizzly Adams.

I love how they consider that she quit to be totally irrelevant. She can't handle 4 years in the 5th least populated state, where the biggest problem is "not enough snow plows," but she's qualified to be president?

Also, pro-life is the complete opposite of a qualification. Great, she makes decisions based on personal emotion, not real world facts. And to make it better, those personal emotions are to remove people's rights to choose for themselves. Land of the free indeed.

And I'm not even going to try to get into how 10 years of politics in Alaska is closer to 10 years in Russia than it is to 10 years in the U.S. Both figuratively and literally.

16. The biggest problem is not enough snow plows?
The biggest problem in Alaska is global warming. Which is happening twice as fast as in the rest of the country.

In my wildest dreams I used to wish that someone from AK would be the one to sound the country's alarm. But no, instead we have someone who uses the fact that she's from Alaska to get daily media exposure entirely for her own self-interest. And tried to get a slew of global-warming deniers elected including one to the Senate HERE. It's too reprehensible for words.

The only time I really remember her getting her ass in gear for something was to plead with the government multiple times to keep polar bears off the endangered species list. Heartless.

23. Exactly, how stupid to suppose its physical size makes it
more of a challenge to govern. It would be population density, which must be low, making it easier.

4. Palin left Wasilla in debt from her Mayorship, and was reportedly over budget
in her failed half-governorship. So her qualifications do not sound like much to brag about. BUT, tits and ass are what really counts to the old white male FoxPAC news viewers who drool at the thought of her doing a striptease during her SOTU word salad speech.

5. the PTA is a qualification for President?
well, it might make a good mom but not really a qualification for President!

And she may have served a half term as Gov of one of the largest states (in land mass). But it's far more challenging to lead a govt that consists of a large population instead of one that takes up a lot of space or it's proximity to a foreign country! If being near a foreign country indicates experience, why doesn't Perry use that too? Because in south Texas, you can not only see a foreign country, you can even walk there if you want to!

6. and if she's so qualified....
...why won't any republicans admit that she's qualified? Many times when a republican is on Hardball, Chris asks if they think Palin's qualified to be President. I think the most recent one was Rand Paul. And not one of them will say that she is!!

And do you know why they won't? Because they don't want their words to come back and bite them in the ass later on.....

7. Hey they left out her education! 5 colleges attended. Also
more beauty contests.

Also nastier than recent presidents as far as the way she publicly insults people she doesn't like

Also maybe the only one treated by a witch doctor in church

Also probably the only one who would think it's a good idea to fly from Texas to Alaska when in labor for your 4th child.

See, I can make lists too.

10. I thought he said she's smoking POT!..She obviously attended 5 colleges to broaden
Edited on Sat Nov-20-10 06:43 AM by old mark
her worldview and gain the knowledge denied those who attended only one or two colleges, which would be the knowledge of a few more colleges.

I despair of anyone who can use the phrase "well reasoned" in reference to anything about Sarah Palin...

Sadly for us, I think she will run in '12 and she might even win - we tend to underestimate the stupidity of the American voter, and no one can refudiate that.

12. Some Meaningless Crap!
"2. Ten years volunteer work in the Parent-Teacher-Association
3. Two years pro-life advocacy"

What? What do those two things have to do with being able to run the USA? Lots of people join the PTA. Big f*cking deal!

"5. Two and a half years governing the largest state in America"

Yeah, a state with very FEW people! Only a Freeper MORON would use land size as a measurement in a case like this. It's the POPULATION SIZE that should be the real indicator!
