Back in August of 2005 my husband and I went to the First Annual Gore Family Dinner in Nashville (

She wanted to know the designer of the dress and where I got my jewelry. I explained the dress and jewelry were gifts from my mom. My mom made the dress and the turquoise (a chunk necklace) was a graduation gift. Anyway, we started chit-chatting about this and that and the next thing I knew we had both kicked off our shoes and she was taking me around the room and introducing me to people.
Coincidentally, we were talking about the enormous burden on the mental health care workers there would be when the RW when finally realized they had been duped by the government they helped elect when the Gores arrived at the function. My new friend told me that Tipper would love me and as soon as things quieted down she would introduce us. She did and I got to talk to Tipper for a few minutes. My friend introduced me as someone who had driven all the way from Kansas for the dinner and then prodded me to ask my question, which was, "What's happened to our country?" I asked her if I was the crazy one because the world didn't make sense to me anymore. I told her that the media didn't report news and that no one talks about issues anymore. I told her I was asking her because she was involved with mental health issues (and I was also hoping that she'd have some insight from Al) and that I had hoped she would address this issue in her speech. She laughed and told me that she had only scheduled five minutes for her speech. Then she assured me that it was
them, not
us, who were the crazy ones. She thought it was a pretty funny question. She took me over to Al so I could get his thoughts on it. He laughed and asked me how long we were in town and if we could come back. He said people were asking those same questions wherever he went.
So thanks Al. Thanks for eloquently answering our questions in your book
An Assault on Reason. I just started the third chapter but I'm beginning to I feel like I can breath again. I'm not the only one who is outraged at what has been happening. Gore is telling the truth. Gore understands that the American people are looking for answers and he is giving them to us.
Thank you Al. I hope this book helps wake up the American people to what has been happening in our country and how far we have fallen. I hope it wakes them enough that the people want demand a change and that they help make the change. I hope it wakes them up like AIT woke people up to global warming. I hope we find the same will to act to save our country that Gore gave us to fight global warming. We're all in this together. We need to stop bickering and bitching and start getting things done. We need to call our reps, they need to hear us. If they don't, we've lost and America may never recover.
If you don't call your congress critters and other elected officials and let them know what you think on issues that matter, you are part of the problem.
Thank you Al. You are doing more to save your country than you know.
