Sarah Palin Slams Michelle Obama in Racially Charged Passage From New Book
In passages leaked from her forthcoming book America by Heart, Sarah Palin -- the erstwhile quitter governor of Alaska, who now, by all indications, fancies herself as President of the United States -- has taken another cheap shot at First Lady Michelle Obama.

In a disgustingly shameful passage on perceptions of racial inequality in the United States, Palin slams President Barack Obama, who, she asserts, "seems to believe" that "America -- at least America as it currently exists -- is a fundamentally unjust and unequal country."

And then she goes after Michelle Obama: ....

3. It would help if you posted the passage that slams Mrs. Obama.
I don't like the way Huffington Post loads, it generally is slow and messy and all sorts of junk is caught up on the page.

8. The reason I didn't is because...
There's quite a bit there (more than the four paragraphs that I'm allowed to post legally here on DU)
There's what Palin said in the book, and what Palin said previously, and then the quote of what Michelle really said.
And what Palin said in the book about Obama's appointee Eric Holder, etc.
It really is worth reading the whole article.

7. Here it is:
"Certainly his wife expressed this view when she said during the 2008 campaign that she had never felt proud of her country until her husband started winning elections. In retrospect, I guess this shouldn't surprise us, since both of them spent almost two decades in the pews of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright's church listening to his rants against America and white people."

14. what a back-stabbing, shallow, lack of understanding, piece of s***
She will lose - she will only win white votes and only about 20% of them.
She has no chance.

So, continue going down in flames, sarah, throwing around your disgusting diatribes to all and sundry.

6. I think I'm just going to have to hide every thread that mentions Palin
this isn't personal about your post - it's about my reaction to posts about her and her family. they are so repulsive to me that I cannot stand to even see her name.

the mention of her brings to mind a huge pile of maggot-infested dog shit and a bunch of old white guys lapping it up.

15. Michelle Obama could teach Palin a thing or two and more
besides being an accomplished and gracious woman, Mrs Obama has raised two beautiful daughters, unlike Palin's trash taking vicious bunch. And come to think of it, so could Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi, their children would definitely make anyone proud. Palin knows as much about leadership as she does about parenting. What a loud mouth hypocrite.

And while she goes after Michelle, I will never forget her remarks about certain parts of the country not being ""pro-America implying, there were some parts of the United States werent:

"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe" -- here the audience interrupted Palin with applause and cheers -- "We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation. This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans. Those who are running our factories and teaching our kids and growing our food and are fighting our wars for us. Those who are protecting us in uniform. Those who are protecting the virtues of freedom." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/17/palin-clarifies-what-part_n_135641.html

Too bad someone didn't tell Bin Laden D.C. and NY weren't "pro America" before he attacked us. Or that our soldiers, "the ones defending our freedoms" come from every state in the Union, big and small towns alike. How she gets away with what she says is unbelievable to me. Yet she has the gall to go after Michelle for being "unpatriotic".

16. Yep, this comment on HP sums it up.
"If one looks at individual achievements of both women, Sarah Palin should be washing Michelle Obama's laundy and cooking her food even before Mrs. Obama became the First Lady. In the United States of America, any White person can say anything against and about any Black person. So, Palin is a nobody who has been privileged by her Whiteness. "

sarah has made a BIG mistake going after Michelle - Michelle is well-liked and admired.

governor only the other day. Can you imagine how long she would stay in the WH because that is REAL work and low pay for long hours. Let's see, half term governor...6 months in the White House before she would go into permanent hiding at either Camp David or Wasila ?

Sorta strange that a KENYAN witch doctor was in Wasilla, Alaska. Maybe someone needs to investigate her KENYAN ties - and let's see HER birth certificate!

Edited to fix link.

And the Palin person takes exception to that, what a piece of work.

28. Yep.
Excerpt:

In fact, Michelle Obama's remarks were made (in Madison, Wisconsin, during the 2008 campaign) in a context of Americans being "unified around some basic common issues":

What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something--for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country. And not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change. And I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction, and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment. I've seen people who are hungry to be unified around some basic common issues, and it's made me proud.

Afterwards, the First Lady further clarified her remarks by noting that she was referencing the "record number" of young voters participating in the political process in the 2008 campaign:

For the first time in my lifetime, I am seeing people rolling up their sleeves in way that I haven't seen and really trying to figure this out, and that's the source of pride I was talking about.
