Father of Ga. baby attacked by raccoons charged-he kept as pets
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 07:51 PM by RamboLiberal
COVINGTON, Ga. -- Authorities say the father of a Georgia baby attacked by two raccoons while sleeping in her crib had raised the animals as pets and now faces charges of unlawfully possessing wildlife.

Authorities told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Thursday that 35-year-old Michael Wayne Cannon even bottle fed the animals.

Newton County sheriff's Lt. Tyrone Oliver says the raccoons often entered the home in Covington, about 35 miles southeast of Atlanta, through open windows and side panels of window air conditioning units.

The 9-month-old girl was attacked Nov. 3 and spent 12 days in the hospital for severe bites on her head and other parts of her body.

COVINGTON, Ga. -- A 9-month-old baby is home from the hospital 12 days after she was attacked in her crib by two raccoons.

Investigators believe two raccoons got into the girl's home in Newton County through an air conditioning duct on Nov. 3.

They bit her head, feet and hands while she slept in her crib.
