Palin book knocks Levi Johnston, ‘American Idol’
Sarah Palin isn't done with Levi Johnston. And she isn't crazy about "American Idol," either.

The former Alaska governor and GOP vice presidential candidate writes in her new book that it was "disgusting" to watch Johnston, the estranged father of her grandson, exploit his sudden fame after she was chosen as U.S. Sen. John McCain's running mate in the 2008 election. She alleges that he was absent when her daughter Bristol Palin gave birth to Tripp and that he disgraced himself by repeatedly criticizing the Palins.

"Of course, we all had to bite our tongues — more than once — as Tripp's father went on a media tour through Hollywood and New York, spreading untruths and exaggerated rhetoric," Palin writes. "It was disgusting to watch as his fifteen minutes of fame were exploited by supposed adults taking advantage of a lost kid."

Bristol Palin has been featured on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," but Sarah Palin has a few words for Fox's "American Idol." She refers to "talent-deprived" contestants who suffer from "the cult of self-esteem."

Projecting again Sarah? Pot meet kettle!

1. "talent-deprived" contestants"

Wow, that's rich.

I don't watch DWTS, but everyone's been talking about it and I read about Brandy's loss.

It seems like this DWTS thing is a microcosm for what is wrong with American voters. Celebrity over talent.

2. Good... Now Levi (and sister Mercedes) can fully unleash...
Damn, I detest this nasty woman more and more. Those who equate her to the "nasty girls" of the Middle and High School cliques have it right. Her "maturity" development was arrested at that stage.

5. The notion of any Palin "holding her tongue" is laughable. I kind of agree with her on AI,
however (DWTS irony aside) - I've only watched snippets of AI, but one of my reaction to seeing early-round contestants was that a lot of them had been brutally (self-)deceived about their abilities. Assuming it's all genuinely as presented, of course...

6. Um, yeah. Presidential material right there. One tome for history.
Make space in the libraries for this one.

7. "the cult of self-esteem"
Edited on Thu Nov-18-10 12:34 PM by Bucky
Meaning people with no talent who, through the random hustle for gratuitous fame, achieve a notoriety that we'd all be better off not knowing about.

I think what she really means by "the cult of self-esteem" is anyone getting any attention besides her.
