Another attempt is being made to get the Employee Free Choice Act labor law reform passed in coming weeks. It would remove employer intimidation from the organizing process, making it easier for workers to join unions. AFL-CIO President Rich Trumka.

: “We’re continuing to advocate for it and we’re gonna continue to push for it. We’ll be looking for every vehicle possible to make that happen.”

Legislative Director Bill Samuel says the AFL-CIO won’t be switching its focus from Congress to regulatory agencies in the struggle to win worker-friendly changes in Washington.

: “The Democrats are still in control of two out of three of the decision makers in Washington – the White House and the Senate. And we’re going to be as aggressive as we can on Capitol Hill. I don’t think our strategy s going to change in that respect. The administration is off to a fairly quick start, the first two years they began to enforce the regulations that had been un-enforced for the past decade or more. They’re back in the business of regulating hazards at OSHA and MSHA and protecting consumers. And we expect that to continue. We’ll obviously look for opportunities to strengthen the work of the regulatory agencies, but we’re not going to abandon our efforts on Capitol Hill.”

2. Recommended with a heavy heart Steve
I have watched as the the employees at most of the import auto companies would call in the UAW for a vote for union representation over and over again. UAW spent millions of dollars trying to organize these plants only to have these companies offer the workers almost what we were getting with our contract if they didn't unionize. And then these same scabs who called us in to help them unionize and waste our money would vote down union representation.

And then even worse yet, we have people who actually belong to unions and want everyone else to support them when their union comes under attack go out and buy these scab built cars over union made cars. And they do this with a straight face too. They think no one will notice I guess?

Unbelievable.
