Gitmo detainee acquitted of all but 1 charge in NY

NEW YORK – The first Guantanamo detainee to face a civilian trial was acquitted Wednesday of all but one of the hundreds of charges he helped unleash death and destruction on two U.S. embassies in 1998 — a mixed result for what's been viewed as a terror test case.

A federal jury convicted Ahmed Ghailani of one count of conspiracy to destroy U.S. property and acquitted him on more than 280 other counts, including one murder count for each of the 224 people killed in the embassy bombings. The anonymous jurors deliberated over seven days.

Amazing how the system the Founding Fathers set up worked. Have to wonder how the Obama Administration can uphold Bush policy?

1. I don't know if your article covers it but one of the jurors actually wrote a note saying...
...she felt threatened by the other jurors. Is that...normal?

2. I didn't see that. I will say my computer seems to have trouble with the last part

4. Sooo, what if he was actually innocent? There seems to be an assumption that because he was in Gitmo

and was held by the CIA at a secret overseas camp for 2 years he must be guilty. What if, as the jury seems to think, he wasn't guilty and there had been a military tribunal instead?
