Rep. John Larson (Conn.), the House Democratic Caucus chairman who is expected to keep his position in a vote on Wednesday, said that his party did not do enough in the eyes of voters to help bring down the nation's 9.6 percent unemployment rate.

"We never did enough in terms of that area for us to have the kind of success we would have," he said on MSNBC. "We had a Roosevelt moment and responded like Hoover."

That was the best statement yet about what happened.

Even if they had done enough who would know it? they spent so much time placating repub pols who had no intentions of cooperating that they eventually lost their chance to present their message. They should have rained a 2-year shit-parade of info to the public about how the repubs started two wars in a way that could not be finished and then opened up everyone to the largest financial screwing since, well forever. Then they could have said "give us more democrats and we will make sure this does not happen again" and then they could have created some decent legislation that, well, made sure that this never happened again. Here's the deal - the only entity that the demos need to worry about are the repubs because they have the better plans to handle everything else including the terrorists. the repubs, however, have no decent plans for anything except how to beat the democrats in the blame-game. Obama is a good man but he needs to know who his friends and enemies are. the repubs are the enemies of everything that is not soley about money. they would destroy this country to stay in power. how can people (ESPECIALLY DEMO LEADERS) not see that and create a proper response to protect us. How can they keep losing the message wars?
