Please come & subscribe to my new Youtube Political Channel
Edited on Thu May-24-07 09:13 AM by debbierlus
Here is the link to my first video with text - come over & subscribe & post your opinions in the text comments of the video! My goal is to start a dialogue about OUR responsibility with what is occurring in our government....

Thanks very much

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvN1_ZmmgY4 Here is the text of my first writing & reading:

I am starting this channel to begin a dialogue about the state of our nation
and the state of our consciousence. Because something is deeply wrong...I
don't know why exactly American's stand paralyzed while the government institutes
policy that do not represent our beliefs as a people or are vision of the world we
want to live in. But, perhaps, it is because we have lost our vision and our
unity as a people. Perhaps, it is because we have become bitter from the loss
of our own dreams, that we can spare little empathy for the plight of our neighbors
neighbors & spare little thought for the implications of our government's policies around
the globe...

What has become of us?

What has become of us, when as a people, we can allow a President to
justify the slaying of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iraq
to cloak our country's actions under the FALSE notion of fighting 'them' over there instead
instead of over here? When did we become a people who would allow murder under
a justification of such cowardice & arrogance? As if war & death & slaugher should be endured by others for our battles, even if
those 'others' had no connection to it, in the first place. British estimates believe over
600,000 Iraqi civilians have been killed in this war. SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND. This nation is so fond of propping
itself under a Christian banner & a righteous God, but ignores the most basic tenet of Thou Shall Not Kill translating it to mean
- thou shall not kill an American.

And, when did supporting our military become silence in the face of tyranny and unjust
war? It was known BEFORE the war that the intelligence used to justify an invasion into Iraq
was dubious at best. Indeed, most Americans were against the invasion of Iraq until it occurred, & then, out
of fear of not 'supporting our troops' rallied around the policy lest we be labeled unpatriotic, forgetting
that patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel. Truly supporting our military would have been
fighting tooth & nail to prevent them from ever having been unnecessarily place in harm's way - &
ever placed in the position of carrying out unjust orders from a President who does not operate in the realm
of reality or truth.

I say this now, for it is long past time that we demand an end to this lunacy. Our Congress is
bending yet again to the whim of the madman we call 'President' who would not even accomodate 'non-binding'
time lines for the removal of troops from Iraq. They fail in their duty in oversight of this administration because
we have failed in our duty as citizens to oversee Congress. How many of us actually know the voting records
and sponsorships of bills of your Senators & Congress Person? Do you even know their names? Have your ever called them?
Ever demanded them to act as representatives of the American people instead of corporate lobbyists and the
military industrial complex? We are often so indignant, so angry at government, forgetting that WE are & MUST
be the government, & democracy can only work with active participation of its citizenry. We resign our fate before we
even begin to fight. Believing we are powerless, we become powerless. And, be it our apathy or righteous indignation against
our government, it has become one & the same. An excuse not to act, not to be responsible, not to participate in changing
things for the better.

And, that must begin with having the courage to seek truth & then speak it, openly, & without fear of the recriminations of those
who would suppress our rights and freedoms.

Killing is not just because we perpetrate it. War does not qualify as just because America implements it. Right now, an atrocity
is occurring in all our names. We all have blood on our hands. We are financing the killing & our silence is complicity and
accomplice to murder. Why do we allow this to continue?

What has become of us?

1. Thanks For Taking Action...
I myself called both the DCCC and the DSCC and requested that they remove me from their "donating" lists! I told them not ever to call or write me again asking for a donation! It's a small effort on my part, but it's something anyway.

I don't want to hurt Howard Dean so haven't called the DNC as yet. I think Dean will speak out for us, but I no longer want to be bothered by mailings and continual phone calls. Not only do I get mailings from the direct organizations, but many many Democrats who want donations from all over the U.S.

Maybe it will be just a drop in the bucket, but it seems MONEY is ALL most of them care about. At the very least, it WILL cut down on my JUNK MAIL!

BTW, I'm going to check out your link right now, and thanks again.

2. I have a LONG list of phone calls I am going to make today -

I am SO pissed off right now, so it will be an excellent time to do it. EVERYBODY call all their Senators & Congresspeople & tell them EXACTLY what you think of this Iraq funding bill (& throw in all their weak 'oversight' hearings without immediate supeona's & swift retribution to those who fail to cooperate...

Thanks all

3. Here Are Some "800" Phone Numbers To Call Senators To Let Them
know how you feel. I can't find my House "800" numbers but am looking for them. Here are a few 1-800-828-0498, 1-800-459-1887, 1-800-614-2803. I don't always get connected but they have worked in the past. My Senators rarely "hear me" because I get disconnected for some reason! MUST be Florida for sure!!!!

I have used those 3 monkeys myself so many times in the past! Not so much as how you have, but in response to my support for John Edwards.

When people jump on me for my support for him, I simply let them know that the Monkeys and I are doing quite well and I have quite an array of "blinders" I can put on. I'm one who doesn't like attacking our candidates for President, it's evident that the Democrats WILL have one so it's hard to throw them all over-board.

Personally I would prefer Feingold or someone more Liberal, but Kucinich CAN'T get elected nor can any other real Liberal, so unless we want ANOTHER Repuke... we're stuck!

Still, it does NOT mean that we can't express HOW WE FEEL about how the Democrats have let us down right now!

4. Thanks for the numbers -

I hope Gore runs, but if he doesn't, I really am not all that thrilled with any of the candidates. Gotta get calling!
