1. Yep. Perquisite -- nicknamed "perk"
My sister's named Emily, nicknamed Strider. Doesn't have to make sense.

Anything you say can and will be scrutinized by spellcheck! You have the right to a thesaurus. If you cannot afford one, one will be provided to you at no cost. Do you understand these synonyms as I have just read them to you?

3. I think you're right on both accounts - I'm guessing so many people heard
"perq" without maybe even knowing the word perquisite, and it became part of the lexicon in that form -- perk. Isn't that how most errors come into common usage? It drives me nuts, but I'm sure I'm guilty of a few myself.

6. Perq has gone the way of indices
and "the proof of the pudding is in the eating". It's been modernified.

(If you feel any better, watching the language evolve is somewhat unsettling to me.)

9. A perk can only be just if the position is used for just cause.
Many people get perks to do wrong, for wrong reason, so a 'perk' can only be defended if earned with better action. Would the money stolen in a bank robbery be a perk?

And most people getting 'perks' are not doing what is best for most people, however the concept of perks for a few people, why would that concept care about most people?

Perks in moderation to create some concept of a doggy treat for someone being a good little puppy, has some place in society and is used by many groups, but I don't believe in pet doctrine, nor the buying of integrity.

So if there is a perk, it should be for integrity and better actions, then it is not a perk, but some earned result.

And I am still due beer and travel money and many experiences, and I would not sell out for that 'perk' Although many can find ways to get some advantages without selling out, I do believe that obviously, so it depends on why and how as much as what.

Sometimes it is, "trading for a soup perk" I don't agree with that, nor do I agree with those that would demand for soup.
