Not going to be popular...but TSA "techniques" are not decided at the local level
The Holiday Travel season is among us and I am sure we, as a country, will figure this out.

I just want to get to see my family for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

1. Actually some procedures do vary significantly
from airport to airport

This is part of the not making this predictable.

What you see... is mostly, and I stress mostly, the same. Even in that there are slight variations.

4. I know there is an algorithm for "secondary" screening
This is not a secret. But while I know invasive personal screening is embarrassing and horrible, but it is not going to last long.

6. Has that been used as an argument, that they are locally
decided? Who would think that? I think everyone knows it comes from DC.

9. Travelling through several airports per month...that's my experience
and the inconsistency of actions from one airport to the next..some airports are much more lax than others

8. Be interesting to know what the plans are in case the proles forget their place and opt out
in numbers large enough to cause backlogs.

10. Totally
I don't ever want to appear to agree with TSA bureaucracy.

Just want to go where I need to go for the Holidays.

Been a tough year.

12. Your "big sis" is Governor Janet Napolitano. Not her fault that Brewer turned the State into a joke
BTW, "Big Sis" is a Matt Drudge term...

15. I say use the rules, opt out everytime you fly.
If enough of us do it, it will force the system to reconsider its actions.

Since special consideration is being given to religious groups over this, use that if they ask

16. Could you tell me more?
Could you tell me more about that religious groups exclusion. Because I fully intend to opt out, each and every time, every way I can. The more ways I have to do it, the better.

What is truly frightening, however, if for this to become the "norm" of the land, to use these scanners pretty much anytime we go anywhere, and without any provision for opt-out.

This is something I would like to see finished off as soon as possible, so any info about religious group exclusion would be great.

19. There is some *discussion* of special consideration being given to muslim women
and possible men. Sounds patently absurd but SecTrans Napalitano is not ruling that out as of yesterday per multiple sites. I can not claim to be a woman, but the rest works for me.

20. If muslim women can opt out the men should be able to also.

21. Like I said, SecTrans is waffling while CAIR is making prouncements on it
At least one senior muslim cleric have said it is forbidden. Someone will file suit on religious grounds, and then it shall get really interesting. But for the time being, I will declare myself muslim, as I imagine lots of others will be as well.

24. I speak some Arabic, am of mixed race, with a full beard. Its more than enough for most Americans
and given how low the TSA has had to go to get manpower, I doubt any of them could tell Hebrew from Arabic.

As to whether or not it will make a difference, who can say at this point? The situation is very much up in the air. I have high hopes for the national opt out day in 8 days.

I am not flying as it is faster (and more fun) to ride to family than fly for me.

Maybe fondle your buttocks? Really? You would let the govt rule over you like chattel? No thanks, I prefer to have some self-dignity left for Xmas time.
