Prince Georges County is significant. It is a close-in DC county and decidedly wealthy. It is a Democratic stronghold.

Jack and Leslie Johnson are major Dem figures in Maryland politics. He is outgoing county exec, she is an incoming county councilwoman.

"Political Corruption" was once a degree course at the University of Maryland. Marvin Mandel and Spiro Agnew were PhD graduates.

Innocent until proved guilty are good words to live by, but sometimes ya just know.

Prince George's County Executive Arrested

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WJZ/AP) ― Federal authorities arrested outgoing Prince George's County Executive Jack Johnson and his wife, who was recently elected to the County Council, a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney's office in Maryland said Friday.

Marcy Murphy, a U.S. attorney's spokeswoman, confirmed the arrests to The Associated Press in a telephone interview.

Jim Karey, a spokesman for Johnson, said federal authorities executed search warrants Friday at the county administration building.

"Since that time, county government has been cooperating fully," Karey said. "We're not aware of the nature of the investigation or allegations."

Officials say federal authorities raided 13 locations Friday as part of a two-year investigation.

Oy... If I didn't have so much crap in this house, and probably wouldn't be able to sell it, I'd move the hell out of PG County ASAP. Things are so much more sane in Montgomery or Howard Counties. This county's government is a fucking joke.

I don't have a whole lot and I live in a condo, so I'll be south bound & down out of PG County in 2011 Lord willing!

Was I surprised by the arrests? No.

Am I in shock over the allegations? Not really.

Will this blow over? Probably unless they actually find the check (and probably more moolah in her draws)!

Well at least this will be a great topic at the dinner table Thanksgiving night!
