SEATTLE - A case came to light in Seattle Monday involving a hit and run traffic accident from August and the father of the richest man in the world.

Bill Gates Sr. is the elderly face seen in all those Initiative 1098 ads. The 84-year-old is an attorney, community leader and father of Bill Gates, founder and chairman of Microsoft.

In August, along 3rd Avenue North near Mercer and the Seattle Center, 911 dispatchers received a call.

Caller: "Somebody has crashed into the back of our car. Their vehicle is still running. And there is nobody.....

So would the law lets you out of a ticket under the same circumstance

1. If the other party declined to press charges or pursue the matter, there's no problem

a friend of mine's ex-wife hit a traffic cop with her car WHILE HE WAS DIRECTING TRAFFIC. Thought no one was seriously hurt, the officer did go to the hospital for precautionary measures.

She got off without even a ticket, and likely won't have to do community service either. I suspect it's because her ex-husband works for a guy whose cousin works for a company formerly run by one of the richest men in the country, but it could be because of all that crazy unemployment money she's making.

Then, you also have Patrick Kennedy wrecking his car in DC at 3am and claiming he's going for a vote, and getting a ride home with no field sobriety test.
