I am not a socially conscious blogger and I don’t like waking up to things like this, but given the utter failure on the part of both the USPS and the Hingham, MA Police department to address this matter I thought I would. Allegedly Erika A. Winchester of Hingham, MA signed for a certified letter for her husband, Randall Winchester. After realizing the certified letter was a possible collection notice from the Rotary Club of Hingham and Hull, Erika went into a racist and socially misguided frenzy which included her physically slapping him and saying “..you fucking nigger thief.. I’m not bigoted…because you’re acting like a nigger..”, “your IQs are lower and therefore the people who need to help you, you don’t know it…” and, “You killed Martin Luther King you niggers turn on each other, you’re stupid…”.

Racists say the darndest things…

To make matter worse, the USPS worker was apparently fired over the incident and Erika did not even receive a slap on the wrist despite her hate speech, assault, and her threats made against his life.

Below you will find the event in two videos hugsonamic recorded with his mobile phone. This man deserves justice not only because he was fired for the incident but because the government failed to do its job when race was involved

I had already read about it, but after reading that transcript, why the FUCK was he fired? He was being extremely professional in his responses in a very hostile customer service situation (which, trust me, I've been in before).

A certified postal delivery in Hingham, Mass., got ugly when, after signing for a letter, a woman decided she wanted the signature card back because the mail was addressed to her husband. When the USPS employee refused, he was subjected to a racist verbal assault that ended with a physical attack.
And what was the USPS employee's reward for remaining calm during this ordeal? He says he was fired.
All the details related to the story are presently unknown. While there are possible suspects as to the female attacker's identity, the mail carrier behind the clip has not named her. However, YouTube poster 'hugsonamic', who uploaded the two videos of the attack, has revealed he was removed from his position as a postal employee after the incident.
In a comment submitted beneath the first YouTube video, hugsonamic explains how he was waiting for the “US Postal Services to tell me why there has not been an investigation, which was the reason that I was fired.”
Adding to that, his comments attributed to the second video explain there was no trial, and that the U.S. Postal Inspection Service remained inactive. When asked why he did not simply drive away from the woman's vitriol, hugsonamic said it was unsafe to do so because she was too close to the vehicle, and at times held on to it.
He later learned that the woman in the video was the babysitter for one of the police officers who responded to the incident, but that only leaves more questions than answers in our opinion.
“I've just learned both the police department and the court have dropped the case, she is free, and no charges against her. I was never sent a noticed (sic) by the court to appear for hearing nor trial. And a year since that happened, USPS postal inspection service has not investigated this matter,” comments left by the ex-postal employee repeated.

I am not surprised he was fired, Postal Management does not back the carrier.At this point in time they looking to fire us for any reason! I am about to retire on Dec.31 of this year. Because of the way they are treating us, there is a lot of pressure in this job right now and I don't need it! With mi military time and my 30 years of carrying mail. I am done.
As for the carrier in Mass. I understand he has a video of this,and I am sure the Union has it by now. He may have to spend a few day off w/out pay.But he will get it back.What he need to do is get a Lawyer and this womens ass off!!!

I'm thinking that he was probably fired for the video he took of the woman. The case will probably end up in arbitration and settled in his favor. But....that will occur if the union can, somehow, convince the arbitrator that the circumstances warranted the video.

and I can corroborate the above two posts.

Postal managers are currently in the process of breaking the American Postal Worker's Union and the other two unions. They are, in my facility, completely disregarding decisions of arbitrators' rulings in our favor. Worse, when presented with those rulings, postal managers are claiming that it's an "ongoing issue", as if that excuses their behavior. One particular situation has a couple hundred grievances attached to it in our facility alone, and those grievances are themselves reliant upon a prior arbitration ruling, unambiguous in nature and wording, which postal managers simply don't like and are therefore ignoring.

The only thing the union can do is file yet another grievance over the violation of the arbitration ruling that was reached by filing a grievance. We are unable to take the issue into court, because we are forbidden by law from doing so. The only answer is to file yet another grievance, which will be ignored if it is won.... years from now.

The process is broken, and it is completely intentional. Postal managers, in general, do not bargain in good faith, and this problem is proof of that.
