i still love jon stewart
along with rachel, and i'm still standing firmly behind the president Barack Obama, for whom i voted.

i just wanted to say that.

i was at the rally and did not take any message of equivalency away from it. for me it was that here we are a country of mostly grown ups, let us talk. the discourse is so ugly.

now i'm posting this on a message board where my feelings and opinion are apparently not popular. but i just wanted to throw it out there. don't want to argue, don't even have the time to, so here it is.

1. I'm with you
I don't expect my politicians, pundits, commentators or comedians to be in 100% agreement with what I believe, or random people on a message board for that matter, either. None of them ever are. This isn't worth elevating my blood pressure over IMHO.

I don't always agree with Obama.
I don't always agree with Keith.
I don't always agree with Rachel.
I don't always agree with Jon.

And sometimes I even change my mind about my own opinions.

2. I'm wondering if I listened to the same interview.
He thinks Fox is more ideological than partisan? I believe Fox's ideology is ALL ABOUT partisanship. But whatever you call it, they still stink.

He thinks Bush shouldn't be called a war criminal? I agree: "alleged" or "possible" war criminal would be more appropriate.

What's with all this torch and pitchfork talk? I think the only thing Stewart did wrong was give the MSM a chance to pile on after being criticized by him.

3. I thought Stewart's rally speech spoke for me.
I've always been against attempts to demonize and dehumanize the "other." It's barely tolerable in team sports and habitually rancid in politics. As a strategy for governance, it's inexcusable.

I don't have to hate the other side to not want them to win.

4. "i love jon stewart"
Why? He doesn't love you (collective you).

He is just an observer - not a participant.

Jon is above it all. He is a passive intellectual without any emotions.

Why work up any emotion for him - he won't work up any emotion for you?

I neither love or hate him. I neither like or dislike him. I am just matching my investment against his investment. I just observe him as he observes us.

5. i always thought the rally in washington was just to get a large group of normal people together
to show that we are not the only sane people. i don't know what people expected from it but i see a lot of people didn't like that it wasn't more than that.

9. I agree. We have become too partisan and don't listen to each other. Turn off the 24 hours cable
news. It's there to make money, not to inform us.

10. I still adore him.
I think we're all disappointed because we hoped he would be the face for progressives, but, he's not. That's not his fault. That's our fault for needing and wanting a leader. So, he says some great things on his show, which contradict what he says, but he is, afterall, entertainment.

The leader you all should be looking for is a cross between Dean and a Snopes Reporter.

11. I second that! I think he's great.
I think people are making too much out of a few clumsy statements he has made. Lighten up people. Jon Stewart is a comedian who does satire. He makes fun of conservatives and right wingers on a daily basis and occasionally has a lefty to poke fun at as well.

If you watch his show, you realize that Jon Stewart is a rational person: something no one on the right can ever claim.

I only saw the rally on TV, but I thought it was great! It was heartening to watch thousands of people cheering for rationality, common sense, and open mindedness.

If I were to take anything away from Jon's recent comments, it might be this: the message is getting lost in the noise. We are still too distracted by the latest new shiny object.

12. I think he's stupid
but he really doesn't bother me. The first time I've ever listened to him was when R. Maddow interviewed him, and that will be the last time. Don't care for him, am completely indifferent.

15. But But But he didn't
End World Hunger
Destroy all racism
Solve the Middle East Crisis
Or Bring about World Peace

During the hours of his rally on the Mall.

And yet - he dares to call himself a COMEDIAN!

Oh The Shame of IT!

17. I do too.
I think a lot of the accusations on both sides are a bit over-blown.. Stewart finds himself in an odd position. As a political satirist, he has to skewer ALL politicians, but of course we also know that the ones on the right are particularly more "skewer-able", since they usually say the dumbest things.

If he only went after one "side", he would no longer be a political satirist..he would be a partisan humorist.

This is just another disservice FoxNews has done. They were the first blatantly slanted "news" venue, and everything else pales beside them. But whenever any of the rest even nears that blurred line in the sand, FOX is usually the first to pile on and accuse THEM of being partisan.. There is only room on the block for ONE bully, and they know it.

Oprah found herself in the same position as Stewart when she openly supported Obama, but she retreated pretty fast, and is now doing fluff & self-congratulatory stuff again for her last year on "regular" tv.

18. I do too.
He's quick on he's feet, when he wants to be funny. When he's thoughtful and serious he comes across as intelligent. Name calling and demonizing the other side solves nothing.
