DNA Test Casts Doubt on Executed Texas Man's Guilt(Gov. Bush)
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/2010/11/11/us/AP-US-Texas-Execution-DNA.html?hp

A DNA test on a strand of hair has cast doubt on the guilt of a Texas man who was executed 10 years ago during George W. Bush's final months as governor for a liquor-store robbery and murder.

The single hair had been the only piece of physical evidence linking Claude Jones to the crime scene. But the DNA analysis found it did not belong to Jones and instead may have come from the murder victim.

Barry Scheck, co-founder of the Innocence Project, a New York legal center that uses DNA to exonerate inmates and worked on Jones' case, acknowledged that the hair doesn't prove an innocent man was put to death. But he said the findings mean the evidence was insufficient under Texas law to convict Jones.

(snip)
"There was not enough evidence to convict, and he shouldn't have been executed," Scheck said.

1. Merely one of the many that Bush stepped on to attain the Presidency...

:sarcasm:

I believe there were more executions under dimson than any previous Gov of Texas...and perhaps anywhere else in the country.
Remember his making fun of the woman pleading for her life....not to be executed? P.O.S.

Karla Faye Tucker Remembered

George Bush ordered the killing of the first woman in Texas since the 1860's
After ignoring calls from religious leaders such as Pat Robertson,
Bush went ahead with the execution on schedule.
In the summer of '99 after announcing his bid for the presidency, Bush openly
mocks Karla's pleas for clemency in an interview he does with Talk magazine.
" `Please,' Bush whimpers, his lips pursed in mock desperation, `don't kill me,' "
The President Mocking The Woman He Put To Death ! ! !
Bush makes fun of Karla Faye Tucker in an interview with CNN's conservative pundit Tucker Carlson for Talk magazine.
" I think it is nothing short of unbelievable that the governor of a major state
running for president thought it was acceptable to mock a woman he decided
to put to death," - Republican Candidate Gary Bauer said of Bush's lewd comments.

2. "The first question I ask in each death penalty case..."
"...is whether there is any doubt about whether the individual is guilty of the crime."

He will have some compassion for them.

4. Cue the death penalty advocates in...
Oh, yeah--there's no defense to this (DNA is most assuredly REASONABLE doubt).
