President Obama: More cowardly than the Cowardly Lion

According to published reports, President Barack Obama is set to cave in to Republicans by backing down from his insistence that the Bush-era tax cuts be extended for everyone except the richest Americans. Apparently Obama will surrender even before the fight begins and support the Republican notion that we should add to the deficit by extending tax cuts for millionaires. Hey, it’s better to reduce the deficit by slashing Social Security benefits for the elderly, right?

Since President Obama seems to be behaving like the Cowardly Lion character from the movie “The Wizard of Oz,” I took a look at the script from the flick, specifically this interchange between the Cowardly Lion and the other characters, and wondered how it might read if Obama were playing the Cowardly Lion character:

Dorothy: Your Majesty, if you were king, you wouldn't be afraid of anything?
Cowardly Lion: Not nobody! Not nohow!
Tin Woodsman: Not even a rhinoceros?
Cowardly Lion: Imposerous!
Dorothy: How about a hippopotamus?
Cowardly Lion: Why, I'd thrash him from top to bottomus!
Dorothy: Supposing you met an elephant?
Cowardly Lion: Why, I’d let him make me irrelevant!

OK, so I made up the last Cowardly Lion/Obama line, but you get my point. President Obama: More cowardly than the Cowardly Lion.

1. I begin to think that Obama doesn't mean what he says in the first place.

This is happening regularly. If once in a while he stood up for what he says he believes in I could give him the benefit of the doubt.

I think he is a nice man with good intentions but I wish I had someone else as our quarterback.

He's not going to be re-elected I can guarantee that. Once we get our entitlements cut, by "Obama's" deficit commission he will have an albatross around his neck.

12. You know I heard something similar when Gore ran. I understand that
Gore won, but if the media hadn't turned on him, Bush would have never had a chance in FL. This commission is known as Obama's Deficit Reduction commission and what ever unpopular outcomes there are, will be laid at his feet in 2012. They can run someone even less qualified than Bush and with Citizens United and over half the country pissed at him, he won't have a chance.

3. LOL
That is great :)

Making someone irrelevant is a terrible trick, it is done by removing thoughts of free will, or by concepts of existence outside of the individual for a bigger societal goal, like the post on bigger entity that is something like a corporation or any social group that self perpetuates.

If you think you can not make a difference, or can not effect anything then you would feel irrelevant. Although the counter to that is the irrelevancy of the world. Hence a form of division between an individual and different parts of society as they each think each other irrelevant to their perspective of existence.

10. Social Security has long been regarded as the "3rd rail" in US politics
You know - that third rail that has the live current in it? A political kiss of death to mess with it.

The beauty of this for the GOP is that Obama is doing for the GOP what they knew better than to ever attempt on their own. Obama will be saddled with this and it will cost him the 2012 election.

11. The other day, my father told me that Obama is a "con man" and that he's beginning
to hate him so much so that he may not vote at all in 2012. My father was one of Obama's biggest supporters/defenders two years ago.

It's getting more and more difficult to defend Obama.
