must be cut because we cannot afford it.

i am pretty good about being a pragmatist. and i know many on du don't have a lot of love for that word, but i am what i am, like many embrace their idealism. and i can respect that. i can appreciate an idealists value to society. i think i have my place, too, as a pragmatist.

i can not see any kind of valid and justifiable argument that paying for two wars is needed. and cutting SS and increasing age is the only viable solution.

this has turned me off more than anything obama may consider. and i have been pissed with a handful of things.

1. When they set up social security they said it could only pay out what the fund collected.
General tax receipts are not allowed to be used for social security. That is why they created a surplus in the fund early on to pay for the coming wave of retirees.

So beyond the general fiscal condition, it is the way Social Security was written that necessitates keeping it solvent by looking at retirement age, etc.

2. Because it's about the beltway well-connected, not about We, the People.
In fact, they see We, the People as the enemy, as they've made quite clear.

3. Those who make decisions for us
do not need SS or any help -- they are already comfortable in their own cheating life. They have no clue how people live outside of Congress and Senate.
