Are there any ordinary people on the Deficit Commission?
Do any of y'all know who all is actually on the comission besides Simpson and Bowles??

I can't recall for sure, but don't recall that there are any regular, middle class working people on it.

I understand that you'd have to sort of screen for the ability to understand fiscal policy and the issues, but it seems to me that if you are going to have a panel that decides on a lot of pain for ordinary americans maybe you should have 3 or 4 voting members??

If it was me I'd choose at least one student, one person working in some form of retail, a nurse or somebody working in the health care industry, a state, local or federal gov't employee, a small businessman, and then some retirees.

I think there is a danger for any comission that consists of mainly wealthy politicians making decisions that affect ordinary people, and by having voting members that WERE ordinary people you might possibly get a result that would play better w/ the public.

So who are the actual voting members? Anyone know??
