Ted Rall and Dylan Ratigan scare the teabaggers
They've been crying all day about Rall & Ratigan having the guts to state the obvious.

Time for a Revolution!

1. You should edit your OP to include a summary of the video's contents.
You won't get many replies when you just post a link to the video.

Most won't follow it, particularly when it isn't obvious where they're being sent to view.

Good video and worth the time to watch it.

5. A lot of posters won't follow a link like that one.
Especially without any summary of what is to be seen.

3. great. I'll dust off my pictures of Chairman Mao
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzCjGgrewYY

I said it in graduate school and I will say it again. People who think we can solve society's problems with a revolution are like people who think they can fix a broken TV with a sledgehammer.

Except, of course, that society is much more complicated than a television set and a revolution is much more destructive than a sledgehammer.

6. So, if your view is that changing who dominates/owns/controls this
country is undesirable, what would you suggest other than continuing in this same direction. I assume you do know that working people are being worked harder for less, and the parasites and vampires are getting bloated. Or maybe you deny that, and will just start chanting "#1!"

11. So what i hear you saying is
"If you aren't with us you're against us."

Just out of curiosity.

When this violent revolution begins (assuming it ever does) how will you treat peace protesters?

13. "no meaningful political change has ever taken place without violence or
the credible threat of violence".

I don't see any exceptions to this on our horizon.

14. Weren't the teabaggers saying the exact same thing a few days ago?
Has all their talk of "second amendment solutions" disappeared into the memory hole already?

25. it's perfectly acceptable to say such things if you're a republican senatorial candidate, or the
chief of staff of a republican congressman-elect

18. I'm sure a very similar thread was locked because it was linked to an alternet story regarding this.
mod said alternet was frequently not an approved site for linkage, and this particular linked fell under that aegis

21. very bizarre, as was the justification, which pretty much only included
a citation of the rules; reminded me of the SCOTUS "non-precedent" setting decision to stop counting the votes in 2000.

apparently alternet links are OK sometimes, not-OK others

look for this thread to be axed, as well

I think it must be because Rall has said so many double plus bad things

check your PMs

20. here's Rall's book, with reviews, most of which were five star:
http://www.amazon.com/Anti-American-Manifesto-Ted-Rall/dp/1583229337

from a review:

You might think that a book discussing the eventual collapse of the U.S. government might seem wildly speculative, over-the-top, or just plain crazy. But a series of profound national events, starting with the 2000 Presidential Coup by the Supreme Court and continuing forward though 9/11, two failed wars, Hurricane Katrina, exploding national debt, the Great Recession and the BP Oil Spill have shown the U.S. government to be simultaneously corrupt beyond redemption, and wholly unwilling/unable to effectively respond to any sort real crisis facing the population. The icing on the cake was the presidency of Barack Obama, once thought to be the last, best hope for a decent federal government, but now revealed to be the ultimate in cynicism or ineffectuality, whichever way you see it.

And if you think it's far-fetched or fantastic to contemplate the end of the federal government, ask yourself: How will the U.S. resolve its national debt? The wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan? How will the U.S. solve 20% unemployment and 1 in 8 homeowners facing foreclosure? How will the U.S. respond when Global Warming starts to flood coastal cities and pollution gives 40% its children asthma?

Which is more far-fetched: the government of the U.S. suddenly reversing a 35-year trend to become functional, wise, unified, effective and decisive? Or a continuation of the gradual, spiraling path toward a crash and burn?

Rall is one of many serious thinkers arguing the federal government no longer serves the people of the U.S. What distinguishes him from others is his argument that the system has deteriorated beyond all repair and that a new system is needed. There is no shortage of facts to aid him in his arguments, and anyone who has paid attention to current events for the last decade will know that financial, military and ecological crisis points are approaching.

24. the first comment at link pretty much says it all:
''As I’ve already posted here, Americans are not willing to make the severe sacrifices to enact real change. They’d rather be serfs on the plantation than living at Guantanamo. Serfs on the plantation today get cable TV, plenty of sports, online porn, and nice greasy burgers. Not so bad for a serf. Better than prison or death. Even the bottom of the barrell in the US has all the amenities.''
