1. Could you put up a little more information like a
link to a story so that we know what you are referring to?

but I live near Vandenberg AFB and I have seen mystery launches that they don't announce especially when there is a cloud cover or rain to obscure what they are doing. I live up on the side of a hill so I can see for miles and I often can see their launches through holes in the clouds even when we aren't supposed to know they are doing it.

15. Looking out toward the Pacific, did the VAFB missiles go right (N), left (S), or straight out west?

out at an angle from my viewpoint, however, they do go out over the ocean. Some of them zig zag too leaving that kind of contrail behind.

19. Where are you relative to VAFB? Do any of them go North (right), that you've seen?
The reason I ask is that the CBS News footage shows the rocket moving right (North) before the setting sun. The Pacific test range target is south-west in the Marshall Islands.

The zig-zag is just the contrail being caught in wind currents moving at different speeds.

I don't know which direction it went if it was from Vandenberg. Was it? Also, when it's foggy sometimes all I see is a flash of light in that direction.

26. In any of the launches you've seen, does the missile appear to move North (to the right)?
Are you near Santa Maria, or east off Rt 166?

I'm going to assume that they don't ever shoot these things directly north, as that would be over populated areas along the coast.

Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 04:57 PM by A-Schwarzenegger
In fact, saw the satellite last Friday, first one I've seen with no contrail, just a steady streak of red fire, then a star-size light, going south.

46. Thanks. That's what I thought.
The footage we are seeing, identifed as shot by a CBS News chopper may have been shot from the southern coast between Santa Barbara and Point Luboc. From that vantage point, a westward trajectory would move left to right.

That's no aircraft contrail. Not a conventional one.

30. How do they keep a missile launch secret? Or, do they just
count on the people like the DUer who lives near Vandenberg to not over-react since they're used to seeing test launches?

17. There have been a lot of sightings of triangular shaped "UFOs" for 2 decades.
Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 02:31 PM by leveymg
The most convincing is the one in the 1989-90 Belgian flap, which included the famous incident when ground radar and NATO F-16s locked onto the object, the jets repeatedly attempting an intercept, but couldn't close.

TR-3B?

It's interesting to me that the shape of UFOs seems to have changed. Nobody sees the pie plates, anymore. Maybe, there's just less pie in the sky.

31. There have been so many reports of the triangles (and a friend
of mine saw one, it was kind of scary even listening to the details), that I've come to the conclusion they're military (ours).

But that always makes me wonder -- if we have these super secret things, why don't we USE them? What are we making/testing them FOR?

36. They must be astronomically expensive (pun intended), so there are only a few.
Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 04:48 PM by leveymg
That may be why the CIA/USAF still keeps them (sorta) under wraps, when they're not being demonstrated to NATO (Belgium, 1990) or the Russians and Chinese (this summer).

While they may be invulnerable missile launch platforms, the main purpose would seem to be highly-mobile surveillance platforms. Like updated SR-71 Blackbirds. Only these are ramjet-powered, and have boundary layer control, and can do Mach 6 or 7. They also seem to move in the lower atmosphere like lighter-than-air vehicles. Some sort of hybrid. Other names applied, Aurora and TR-3B. Or else, this is just a big mind-game, and someone's been pocketing those missing billions that no one at the Pentagon can account for.

48. ''Aliens'' may not be adequate to explain the phenomenon.
Jacques Vallee says the phenomenon has stranger reports than simple visitation from another planet. For instance, some people have seen things appear out of thin air; others have "heard" voices in their heads that told them where and when to look for something in the sky; others have met "beings" that asked odd questions, like "What do you have to eat?" Vallee suggested the phenomenon is something real, evidently intelligent, possibly transdimensional in nature; and has apparently a long history of interaction with humanity. We need more facts to get more specific.

Note the ground effects directly underneath the object: dust seems to be standing up, along lines.

It is a fascinating subject. Here's a PDF file of detailed analysis of Rex Heflin's photos: Reanalysis of the 1965 Heflin UFO Photos.
