Keith Olbermann Thanks His Supporters via Letter Issued on Bold Progressives.org
Source: Reach Out Job Search

This evening, via Bold Progessives.org a statement was issued by Keith Olbermann, thanking this supporters in the effort to return him back to work, off of the "indefinite" suspension, that MSNBC President Phil Griffin issued to Olbermann on Friday.

Without further ado, here the letter that Mr. Olbermann wrote to his supporters.

"I want to sincerely thank you for the honor of your extraordinary and ground-rattling support.
Your efforts have been integral to the remedying of these recent events, and the results should remind us of the power of individuals spontaneously acting together to correct injustices great or small.

..I also wish to apologize to you viewers for having precipitated such anxiety and unnecessary drama. You should know that I mistakenly violated an inconsistently applied rule – which I previously knew nothing about -- that pertains to the process by which such political contributions are approved by NBC...."

Statement To The Viewers Of Countdown

I want to sincerely thank you for the honor of your extraordinary and ground-rattling support.

Your efforts have been integral to the remedying of these recent events, and the results should remind us of the power of individuals spontaneously acting together to correct injustices great or small.

I would also like to acknowledge with respect the many commentators and reporters, including those with whom my politics do not overlap, for their support.

I also wish to apologize to you viewers for having precipitated such anxiety and unnecessary drama. You should know that I mistakenly violated an inconsistently applied rule – which I previously knew nothing about -- that pertains to the process by which such political contributions are approved by NBC. Certainly this mistake merited a form of public acknowledgment and/or internal warning, and an on-air discussion about the merits of limitations on such campaign contributions by all employees of news organizations.

Instead, after my representative was assured that no suspension was contemplated, I was suspended without a hearing, and learned of that suspension through the media.

You should also know that I did not attempt to keep any of these political contributions secret; I knew they would be known to you and the rest of the public. I did not make them through a relative, friend, corporation, PAC, or any other intermediary, and I did not blame them on some kind of convenient 'mistake' by their recipients.

When a website contacted NBC about one of the donations, I immediately volunteered that there were in fact three of them; and contrary to much of the subsequent reporting, I immediately volunteered to explain all this, on-air and off, in the fashion MSNBC desired.

I genuinely look forward to rejoining you on Countdown on Tuesday, to begin the repayment of your latest display of support and loyalty - support and loyalty that is truly mutual.

2. Thanks Tansy Gold...

The entire letter written by Keith, sits on the blog now and there was a link in the original posting, to the Bold Progressives.org website. It is in the first paragraph, by the way. So, the source was credited properly! :)

6. You're welcome, but
the link in your blog is to the BoldProgressives.org website, and the letter from Olbermann is not on the website as far as I know. It was contained in an email. I'm sure by now it's posted lots of places as a result, but neither your blog nor the BoldProgressives.org website were the source for the Olbermann letter. Anyone wanting to verify the information from your OP would not have been able to reach the source document.

Call me mean and heartless and cruel and anything else you want to call me, but I just think the DU rules don't cover using our personal blogs as reliable sources for LBN. It may be a good way to drive traffic, but it kinda violates the whole spirit of LBN, imho. Put it in GD or Editorials, but if there's no verifiable "reliable" source other than the poster's personal blog, it just doesn't belong in LBN.

Again, jmho.

7. First and formost....
That is YOUR opinion. In the same aspect Tansy Gold, this "Blog" that you prefer the blast on a daily basis, is indexed by Google News. Do not believe me....look it up.

Second, did you read the headline of the story "Keith Olbermann Thanks His Supporters via Letter Issued on Bold Progressives.org". The letter was issued by e-mail via Blog Progressive.org, which in turn, was the original source of the letter.

Third, the letter itself, now sits on the website (I.E. the actual letter issued by Keith Olbermann on HIS behalf) was part of the NEWS announcement, that are you missing here.

"Call me mean" well, you would not have to type this type of statement, at all, if you knew either the standards of proper sourcing methods or blog news based stories. Google News, does not agree with your type of "thinking" and immediately indexed the BLOG on the first request.

By the way, that is RARE for blogs....unless they are deserving.

Anyway, this story is not about a "I know this and that" contest with you. The story is indeed about Keith Olbermann thanking all of his supporters in his effort to rightfully return back to work. If you have nothing to add to that story....

Well, I will leave that to your imagination.

Have a wonderful night!!
