Maybe candidates should shut up and not buy a damned thing
It's like freakin entertainment tonight here sometimes, or even weekly world news.

I'd be happy just knowing a few small things:
1. Where they stand on issues
2. Plans for fixing problems - and I mean real plans, not just saying it should be fixed but how.

I expect em all to fuck up somewhere along the line. It's human nature. How it is played out though can sometimes be sad. And the media holds blame there as well.

The Dean Scream, Hillary's joke, the Kerry Joke, and on and on it goes.

Sure it is fun to bitch about it all and such, but in the end if we get someone who does not make screw ups and can't get the job done then it will be a shame.

The lesson learned - feed people soft shit, like how you 'feel' about an issue, keep em in the dark on specifics, and realize that Americans are driven by entertainment and not substance. Never really answer a question, cause they aren't listening to hear an answer anyway, they just want to wait until you say something they can use to smack you around with.

Be careful what you drive, what you buy, what you wear, because those things are what people pay attention to the most.

Ya know - as I write this I DO think it is fine to examine such things, it is our nature to talk about them. Fine - but I hope we start getting a lot more details and info about plans and we can scrutinize those 10 times more than the other thing.

Cause folks - we are in deep shit. The earth is going to hell, people are dying in war and poverty every day, health care is sucking, and people in our country are suffering immensely from problems no one seems to want to fix.

THE REASON - no one wants to take a hard stand on anything. Remember before the election how some people said to play it safe so we could win, then we could implement our plans? Now it is, play it safe because we need to win in 2008. Then it will be time for another big congress election, so tone the radical changes or we will be out of office.

We need people willing to tell the press and others to fuck off and just do the damned job that needs done. Every candidate has reasons we SHOULD NOT elect them for the big run - DK is too radical and not charismatic enough, Hillary.. well we have the IWR and a lot more, Edwards has a big house and his hair is too pretty, and it goes on and on.

I want to hear WHY I should vote for someone. And the why nots are fine as well of course. It just seems the force is out of balance and instead of us building up to the rest of the US why they should vote for someone we are spending a lot of time telling them why even we would not vote for.

Criticism IS needed, I am all for it. It just seems at time that the feeding is on the negative side instead of on how much better we can do then the asshole in charge now.

LASTLY - It has been fun reading all the threads though  keep it up ;)

Exactly. Including making real sacrifices or changes. It's all connected. Our 5% is making a massive imprint on the entire planet. Fixing all that you mention requires change on the personal level. We need a leader to take that stand and face the challenge of change.
