DeMint is confused about which way he should go.
Rand Paul is flip flopping

67. I wouldn't start jumping up and down just yet. Disunity seeks a scapegoat and that scapegoat is us.

The GOP will resolve its internal problems by going after Obama 24/7/365 in endless hearings leading to impeachment.

The "screw d'etat" is just beginning......

And the rest of the lot that are responsible for the deaths of over 100,000 Iraqis...and nearly 5000 American "Draftees"..(read: Poverty Draft)...plus, the needless deaths and havoc they created "going after" Bin laden...

Prosecute them as it's plainly laid out in Vince Bugliosi's Book "The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder"(ANY local prosecutor with a pair of stones can make that indictment)...and try and preserve what little dignity this country has left.

Shit, they're all sipping fucking latte's on our fucking dime, while we stew and try and sort out just what the fuck is going on in the USA...no jobs, no money, no clues...No Class ('cept the class warfare that's unfolding in front of our eyes).

Protest leads to Resistance...

A square divided into four quadrants, reflecting personal attributes of employees.

Hard working
Lazy
Smart
Stupid

Possible combinations of personal attributes are:

(1) Hard working & smart

(2) Hard working & Stupid

(3) Lazy & smart

(4) Lazy & stupid

The most damage
is done by the Hard-working and stupid.

91. If they aren't afraid, they aren't paying attention
Repugs control both houses due to Dem timidity in not actually making them filibuster and MOST of the governorships which control redistricting. They also have the media and almost all the corps on their side too.

Nothing will get done in Congress, and the talking heads and media and Repugs will all blame Dems - have majority in Senate and Presidency. If Obama wins in 2012, it will be a major miracle and I for one am very afraid of what they will do if they have the presidency and even 1 branch of congress.

54. The Tea Baggers have no central leadership

The Tea Baggers won and now find themselves at the top, but there is no central figure to give them a plan or direction.

In their individual victories, they have the "Tiger by the tail". In the general election of 2012, the Tea Party will experience the full force of that angry tiger.

It is going to be a lean two years before the next election, but we have the opportunity to finally bury the conservatives and see Democrats in power for a generation.

Sarah still gets them riled up, DeMint has fallen in line, and the Rand Paul supporters love that he thinks restaurant owners should keep from serving anyone he or she wants to.

Not much of an implosion when no one notices how unfair, unequal, disingenuous, and dishonest they are.

Wouldn't be good for business, is my take.

Edited on Mon Nov-08-10 05:05 PM by loudsue
This election was just a test run for the 2012 elections. Anyone who is laughing about their total ignorance and incompetence doesn't respect the impact of unlimited corporate cash thrown at elections.

In other words, it doesn't matter what disarray they are in....the powers that be LOVE IT that the GOP are so stupid. THAT is precisely WHY they are buying elections for the GOP. Stupid is easier to write legislation for. Stupid is easier to control.

Edited on Tue Nov-09-10 12:54 PM by mwooldri
Previously both NC houses were Dem controlled, now they are Republican controlled. This also means that the Republican controlled houses get to work on re-districting as it is coming up. Otherwise known as gerrymandering the districts to ensure a better Republican stranglehold on the NC legislature.

From my experience, control grows from the ground up. First it is the small city council, then the small counties and so on and so on and you then have Washington.

We lost a bunch of legislatures, just before re-districting begins. Next election, we have more Senate seats to defend. This was an ass-kicking, plain and simple and we might face more of the same in 2012. We need to quit worrying about Repub self-destruction and start making sure they are destroyed. It needs to start today.

59. Not sure this is "implosion"..........
This is exactly what the talking heads predicted. After the election there would be a fight within the right to define the structure and control of the right-wing in this country.

The competitors would be traditional Republics who are used to exercising seniority and wielding control against the Teabaggers who want in every way to usurp that control and if not take control of the party apparatus at least drive its direction.

So the traditional party is snubbing Michelle Bachmann for a leadership post. They know she may bring out some voters with her fantastic assertions but is a wildcard they cannot control. Sarah may well be a threat to a more traditional presidential candidate in 2012 and has already demonstrated her ability to influence elections, at least Republic primaries.

Demint is confused because he doesn't know which side will win. He wants to be a winner (even if the American people are the losers).

Rand Paul will likely be a firebrand in the House but largely ineffective at accomplishing anything. He is indeed flip-flopping as he did from the primary to the general just like his toupee.

Although I have no plans to read his book we all knew he was being handled and controlled by others. He kept up the face of loyalty during his term but it doesn't surprise me he is revealing some of the truth behind the workings of his White House. There are so many targets for his derision.

But it would be folly to take this as an "implosion". It will be interesting to see how this plays out. There are many scenarios including one that splits the so-called conservative movement in two with two "parties" that caucus together in Congress much as the Democrats and Independents do in the Senate.

They are united in their goals - bringing down Obama, destroying everything he has done for the American middle class including health care and financial reform and serving their corporate masters.

68. The Supreme Court is in their big picture
or their cross hair, if they win in 2012. A real possibility that all good people should mobilize to prevent.

74. Oh, horsepuckey. They're WINNING.
Who cares about the high-school antics of the GOP? They just won big, and they're going to spend the next 2 years in Washington being as destructive as (in)humanly possible. If you don't want 2012 to look even worse, don't underestimate them.

77. Yup, they are changing in an unpredictable manner.
But don't go to sleep, they are masters at managing the dialog and they work the media very well, The greatest win last week was the elimination of Grayson and Feingold, two really scrappy defenders of the people. It was, in the parlance of knowing your enemy, a marvelous take down.

There seem to be too many people texting and not reading newspapers or the stuff on the internets to care much.

This is pitiful. I guess you need something to sustain yourself for the next 2 years.

This is really not going to help us much for 2012......just a distraction.

Instead of worrying about all this ignorant party business (hint: neither are on your side), get in touch with IDEAS that aim to make the country better.
Quit looking for "leaders" & lead yourself.
That doesn't mean running for office either.

The political system DOES NOT WORK.
It's time to face that.

The promise of this site is the Underground.
The flaw of this site is the Democratic.

People who identify with the Progressive IDEAS and IDEALS come here to champion these things.
But others conflate the Democratic Party with the Progressive Movement which is not necessarily so. They come here to rah-rah for the Democrat team & always miss the point with that conflation.

I recently put up a whole analogy comparing the Progressive Movement with Dr. Pepper & the Democratic Party with the Coca-Cola Company, parent company of Dr. Pepper.
Coca-Cola bought out Dr. Pepper but people buy Dr. Pepper because they like Dr. Pepper not necessarily because they like Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola is just its bottler.

Read it & put it on your favorites. It's Post #33 in a topic called "GOP: We Owe It to People to Repeal Health Care" by Poll_Blind.
"This is what happens when you half-step"

This is BEYOND the Democratic Party. It is about the dignity of all humankind. It is BEYOND the United States of America.
This is the ultimate evolution of Civilization we're fighting for here.
Civilization has never quite worked right because it doesn't protect or provide for each member of that civilization.

We're better than we used to be. We don't throw people into the volcano to satisfy the Rain God & we don't burn people at the stake because they have an odd birthmark on their face.
Humanity HAS improved as slowly as that may be. And we must continue to improve & recognize that until ALL of us are doing good, then really NONE of us are doing good.
We must work for as long as it takes until a Civilization LITERALLY for the good of all is a reality.

The Democratic Party is just one of many many many many many many MANY tools to work toward the ultimate purpose.
Don't get trapped on the wrappings, remember the true present underneath that wrapping.
John Lucas
