Sorry Rachel, Ed and Lawrence, I'll not patronize your corporate bosses anymore. You all owe Keith.

I will miss Rachel, Ed and Lawrence, but Keith Olbermann made all of your programs possible. Without him, none of you would have ever had a television show. You owe him.

There would never had been the near 500,000 viewers of MSNBC without one single individual slowly, patiently, and courageously against the odds building up that nightly audience. His name is Keith Olbermann. MSNBC owes him.

This sack of shit executive (a Republican Donor himself) that axed him also has axed me.

I'm done.

I hope another cable network can see the size of audience Keith can draw and, even build an entire nightly audience of other shows around and give Keith a home.

No Keith? Then, no MSNBC.

No Keith? Then, no Rachel, no Ed, no nothing.

Any thread here that refers to shows by Rachel, Ed or any MSNBC will not have a post from me within it unless it deals with Keith Olbermann.

I stand by my friends. Keith was there when others were more concerned about their make-up and hair than the illegal war that this country made against a people that did us no harm.

Oh, one more thing: I also owe Keith.

1. This is very true. They owe their careers to his support and backing.

10. They do.
He built that nothing network from ashes, even as Jack Welsh was trying to fire him.

2. Amen.
I love Rachel, but without Keith, there would be no Rachel. Or Ed. Or O'Donnell. Olbermann was the lone voice in the wilderness not too long ago. He saved my sanity in some respects, and I'm not the only one who can attest to that.

6. This cuts both ways unfortunately...
I too have turned off MSNBC and NBC because of KO fiasco...

But, maybe that's what COMCAST wants... to replace 'liberal' MSNBC with 'republicorp' MSNBC...

I am totally boycotting MSNBC and NBC.

Maybe, KO, Rachel, Lawrence will start a network of their own (somehow).

23. Especially the one episode I ever saw, which featured a corporate run "boot camp" juvenile prison
Designed to instill an "unquestioning obedience of authority" in juvenile petty offenders with the threat of throwing them in gen-pop if they did not submit to daily hazing routines.

I will miss watching them, but this is how corporations do things. They replace employees one at a time until everyone falls in line. :)

12. while I appreciate your feelings let me point out
the best thing to do is to remember it puts them in a hell of a situation. As I said on another thread, I have been in their position when Jeff Farias was fired from Nova M/KPHX and I still had a show to make a decision. Fortunately Jeff called me and told me he wanted me to stay on because we needed my voice out there, but sadly I was forced to take up a fight that wasn't mine. I was told to choose a side and when I refused I got a call from Anita Drobny and was asked not to quit. I told her I would stay if I was not going take a side but that Sean Ryan was trying to force me and if she would remove him from board op of my show I would be glad to continue as long as I didn't have to take a side. She said she would put a muzzle on Sean but I knew he would try to force me to do so and therefore I quit. I joined Jeff in an effort to build our own network. I was lucky because my affiliate in Mississippi continued to broadcast my show, but harm was done and eventually the station went under, the network we built and all the good work we wanted to do went with it. I suggest continue to support these people but just don't support the other MSNBC shows, which will be better and not take even more of our voices off.

15. No. It's like crossing a picket line in my eyes. I'm no scab.
Edited on Fri Nov-05-10 08:09 PM by David Zephyr
And, believe me, they are calculating that once the uproar has subsided, then they will also replace Rachel one by one. That's how they do this shit.

I truly appreciate your comments. I do. But this is how corporations do their deeds.

This is how jobs are outsourced. This is how unions are busted.

If there was a picket line, I didn't buy grapes when I wanted to, I didn't shop at the grocery stores when I needed to, and I will not support this corporation with tuning in and I will encourage progresive I know to join me.

All for one and one for all.

21. K&R! Excellent points and well stated...
Rachel has become a real shining star and she owes it all to her guest appearances, then guest hosting, of Countdown. Everybody who came after owes it to Keith. He is the standard bearer and those who followed would not be there, but for him. And we all owe him. The TV machine would truly be a vast wasteland if not for his courage and determination to report the truth... :toast:

22. I said in another thread, when Conan was axed by NBC, he left the network to protect his colleagues
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 04:30 AM by Leopolds Ghost
He did an entire WEEKS WORTH OF "SCREW YOU" SHOWS attacking the network and bragging about how much network $$$ they were cramming up their asses to keep out of the hands of executives.

Do Rachel or Ed have the same guts to say "if KO goes I go"? I thought they were big fan of unions. Well THIS IS WHAT UNIONS DO!

Hell Rachel's in a better position to do so than Ed, unless Ed's radio show is still viable -- we don't get it here in DC since AAR got taken off the air. If I can't hear Ed or Rachel on the radio in the Nation's Capitol, why should I bother PAYING for CABLE to a corporation that has defunded its broadcast wing in order to SEE them in person?

26. It's a lot more than 500,000 viewers
Keith gets over a million viewers every weeknight during the first airing, alone. Each day, in total, he gets 2 million viewers.

Rachel gets between 700,000 - 1,000,000 per night.

Even Lawrence's new show has been getting over 700,000 viewers.

Griffin is an idiot for screwing with us viewers, over something that should have been handled privately and quietly within MSNBC.
