Our society generally gives cops a pass on obeying the laws they are supposed to enforce. Why, I haven't a clue.

The sentencing is not the final word on Grant's death. The U.S. Justice Department has said that its civil rights division, along with the U.S. attorney's office and the FBI, will investigate the shooting "to determine whether the evidence warrants federal prosecution."

I am outraged not only at the sentence. (I'm trying to move beyond thinking of punishment as the only way to respond to harm).

I am outraged that we live in a system that allows things like this to happen.
