How do we prevent a similar disaster in 2012? I've included some of the most popular suggestions from the past couple of days.

Yes the leaders of the party need to better communicate what they have done, and we need to get the voters motivated for 2012. Getting the messages out will help with independents, and unhappy republicans, but we need to make sure we can get a huge turnout or democrats, something we obviously didn't get this time around. I think history has shown we were going to lose seats, it's just that we could have cut or loses if more democrats had turned out to vote. I also think that the blue dogs lost because they voted against to many things the party put on the floor. When you have a choice of voting for a republican, or a DINO I think many people just stayed home. We also never seem to get the younger voters out in a midterm election, and that hurt a lot this time!

7. What does that mean to you?

I'm seriously interested in the answer, because I'm thinking about how that would work out here.

10. What this means is selling liberalism to fellow Americans.

- First, organizing a group and creating a charter

- Holding public meetings with speakers

- Proactively writing letters to the editor at to your local online or paper news outlets

- Social media outlets - contacting young people and getting them involved

- Sign holding; perhaps even protesting if necessary

- Essentially, letting people know that LIBERALISM means a more prosperous, free community that supports the growth of all Americans, regardless of class.

- Let me also add: educating the public about what liberalism means in their lives in a RELEVANT way

11. I agree, though I'd go with populism instead of liberalism.

Not only because liberalism is a scary word to some, but because populism much better captures the class warfare aspect of what we need to promote.

12. I understand, but the problem is with the term "liberalism."

And the fact that liberal ideas are, post-structurally, reconstituted to mean a myth that is far separated from reality. If liberals truly believe in their ideology, then we need to get out there and start selling what liberalism means in people's lives in a meaningful way.
