George W. Bush calls Katrina photo a ‘huge mistake’

The full Lauer interview airs 8 p.m. Monday night, with Bush's book hitting shelves the following day. But NBC released the following excerpt Friday:

LAUER: Yeah. And in comes the press and they take that picture. And it made you look so out of touch.

BUSH: Detached and uncaring. No question about it.

LAUER: Whose fault was it?

BUSH: It's always my fault. I mean I was the one who should have said, A, don't take my picture, B, let's land in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, C, let's don't even come close to the area. Let's -- the next place to be seen is in Washington at a command center. I mean, it was my fault.

Good to see you're still out of touch George.

1. pretty much the whole presidency
Bush calling something he did while president a huge mistake is a no brainer. The dude couldn't even eat a pretzel without failing.

13. I actually think this book would be a scream to read, if it didn't really happen.
It sounds like it's going to be exactly like the many satirical books written during the Bush pResidency. Hee, I haven't typed pResident in ever so long.

2. So he sees this as an error in perception...
And he takes credit for that error. So what about the reality, Dumbass? What about the reality of your not doing a damn thing to help?

3. Maybe if this uncaring buffoon...
...had really given a hoot about the people in New Orleans, he wouldn't have to
think so hard about which pose would have benefited his image the most.

Seriously.

Do we really have to spend the next few weeks watching this fool try
to rehabilitate himself?

It's almost like watching Joey Buttafuoco touring around trying to
convince everyone that he's really a nice guy.

8. So it's his fault he was SEEN to be doing nothing, not the FACT that he was doing nothing?
I thought he was supposed to be creating reality for us, so we didn't need to interpret anything. Must have been my mistake.
