Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man
Two years of retirement haven't dulled George W. Bush's political zest - and President Obama and Sarah Palin are among his under-the-radar targets.

The 43rd President has told friends the ex-Alaska governor isn't qualified to be President and criticizes Arizona Sen. John McCain for putting Palin on the 2008 GOP ticket and handing her a national platform.

"Naming Palin makes Bush think less of McCain as a man," a Republican official familiar with Bush's thinking told the Daily News.

"He thinks McCain ran a lousy campaign with an unqualified running mate and destroyed any chance of winning by picking Palin."

1. If You Think About It Bush* Was A Much More Principled Politician Than McInsane
McInsane abandoned every stand he had previously took to appease the right up to and denying that he ever called himself a maverick. I never understood the infatuation some on the left had with him including John Kerry.

6. I think it's almost entirely attributable to that period of his career
from approximately the late '90s to about 2003 where he seemed like one of the few moderate Republicans left, talking smack on the religious right, standing up against some of G. W.'s more egregious policies, etc.

That period now looks like the exception to the rule, though. I know some people think McCain sold his soul around '04 when he basically started trying to out-wingnut the wingnuts to get back in good with the 'pugs. Honestly, I think his pseudo-maverick phase stands out as the anomalous phase in his career. From what I've been able to gather, he spent much of his early time in office as a generally regressive "Reagan conservative" and has tacked even further to the right these days. He basically seems to be a typical conservative, Western-state Senator, albeit more self-righteous and hotheaded than most.

5. this is Rove...........and the attempted destruction of Palin has begun
she blew 3 Senate seats for them. Imagine a 50-50 Senate, which they would have had if she hadn't interfered.
She won't go down easy.

New England Old Money
Phillip's Academy
Yale
Harvard (Business School)
Ancestors/Relatives as President

Of course he thinks she's "unqualified" - she's a woman and poor white trash to boot. NOKD.

19. But she isn't qualified. I'm sure you are right about his prejudices, but in this case, he is right
about Palin. She is not qualified and she's crazy to boot.

If he said it about Hillary Clinton then I would assume he was just a sexist fuckwad.

12. they are paving the way for Jeb
I think the plan is Jeb. I think at this time they see Obama as vulnerable and the economy about to rebound... and why should a Bush wait in the wings till 2016?
The most undeserving family in history will foist another one of those dumbasses on us and if they run him he will win. He will look rational and sane compared to the tea baggers.
