3. I'd be willing to compromise on the income level -- up it a bit from $250K, but

as for extending it as is -- no fucking way. We'd be throwing away hundreds of billions of dollars in revenue while the Republicans would be screaming The Deficit! The Deficit!

Here in Washington some wealthy Dems OFFERED to pay a State income tax (we currently have none) and voters turned it down because of the word "tax". Spoke w/a friend of mine today who voted against it who said (and I've heard this more than once) -- in two years they'll tax us all! Even if that happens, take the revenue between now and then! Jesus, these people wanted to do what was right, to give back, but no dice.

From what I've read the $250K figure is the bottom of the highest current tax rate. I say raise it to a million dollars.

they would take it. While I may agree with the policy argument I think this "Look at all the rich that want to be taxed" line is really stupid. If anyone wants to pay more taxes they can - the Treasury takes donations (really, they do!). However, I never hear afterward that those wealthy Dems made donations to the state/federal govenment. Really, why not just say that they are willing to pay extra taxes so long as others in their same position pay extra taxes?

We are in an economic crisis here, and when you are in a crisis you use the most effective tool you have to get out of the mess you're in. Tax cuts are the least effective form of economic stimulus. Not to mention that it will add trillions to the national debt, trillions that we simply can't afford.

We need to let those tax cuts expire, and use some of the savings to create a true, WPA style jobs creation program. The increased activity and rising economy would do more for helping out the people of this country than another tax cut.

I don't understand how he can keep "reaching out" to the very people who want to see him out of office. How can he keep "compromising" on anything and everything BEFORE they even get to the table. It looks like he would learn after being burned so badly so many times.
