You have 2 min of Obama's time: What would you tell him?
Maybe this will prove cathartic (if nothing else).... Post the most important message/advice/comment you could deliver to Obama in no more than two minutes and with his undivided attention. I am still thinking of my own message, so I will let others start it off.

What is the most important message/advice/comment to be delivered?

Every free marketer touts the Invisible Hand, but not many people think about that Foot.

It's kicking our asses.

3. Why the fuck are you compromising with the Republicans?
Esp. over the Bush tax cuts? We cannot afford to keep those for the top tax brackets!

And: You cannot compromise with people who are trying to kill you.

God, I wish I could tell him this.

9. He should use the bully pulpit to educate American about
the magnitude of the problems from peak oil and climate change, tying both to economic future of the country. He should hold a televised town hall, comparable to those held when the changes were made to Social Security in the 1980s, and explain the possible course of action and the probably consequence for pursuing each course and for inaction. These will be far more consequential to Americans and the world even than the wars we are currently engaged in and politicians of all stripes have been unwilling to address the issues with the kind of changes that will be required.

11. Like one of us could say anything in 2 minutes that would be
something Obama doesn't know already, and probably know more about.

I wouldn't waste his two minutes. Let him do the job he was elected to do (and I mean President, not specifics like stop the war already, have the unemployment rate at 2% by now, etc.)

19. I would ASK him to define "treason".
I am old enough to have experience good and bad governance. I cannot understand why the Bush administration was able to DO what they DID to this country.....and get away with it.

So......would you tell me what YOU would consider "an act of treason" ?

20. I would remind him
That the GOP's main focus, their driving force, their mission, their number one goal - over ALL else, is to make sure he is a one term president.

With that in mind, I would suggest that he finally take up and use the power available to him and USE the bully pulpit. I would ask that he constantly remind, cajole, force, demand that the GOP come up with ideas for increasing employment across the nation....come up with ideas that would put the economy back on track. And I would ask that he constantly reinforce that tax cuts do not invigorate the economy. It did not happen before - there is no reason whatsoever that it will magically happen this round.

I would ask that he explain to the public WHY folks are losing their jobs - outsourcing to increase profits of multinationals on the backs of third world workers, while undercutting the purchasing power of the American buyer.

If he is to be a one termer - which is what the GOP desperately want - then he is free to attack them with abandon. Question their ideology. Demand how tax cuts equal more jobs....and ridicule their hypocrisy.

If he is to be a one termer, and the GOP wants smaller government - which they have stated....demand budget cuts from defense - the biggest drain on the american economy today - which far outwieghs social security and medicare. Remind people that it was THEY who funded social security - it is not government money - it is theirs - and he will not cut what they have coming to them....what they PAID for.

If he is to be a one termer - he is free to go on the offensive - and he should.

The GOP does not want to work with him. They want to destroy him. He has to turn this around and blame them for stupid ideas and demand from them ideas that will accomplish HIS agenda.....turn the economy around and increase employment.

22. think I could say it in two minutes.....
here is the email I wrote to the White House this morning
after reading he was considering compromising on tax cuts....

Dear Mr. President,
I am horrified to read this morning that you are thinking of giving in to those GOP dimwits on extending the tax cuts for the wealthiest 2%. That's 700 BILLION dollars, Sir, that can feed US children, help US elderly, help US homeless, help US vets, help all of us who are working our asses off to try to make ends meet and put food on the table. When are you going to learn that there is NO compromise on what is right and what is good for the USA. They only want what's best for the rich, the corporations and themselves. They do not give a damn for mainstreet America.

PLEASE do what I worked so hard to get you into office to do, WHAT YOU PROMISED me you would do. Please do not cave into people who have no interest in compromising. Their stated #1 goal is to boot your ass out of office. Mitch restated it this very morning. Believe them. Stop deluding yourself, Sir. Do what you know is best for this country.

You looked like a beaten man in your press conference yesterday. STOP IT! You are a great man, your vision for our great land is good. You simply must have the gumption to stand up for your values and stop caving to the corporate interests and the rich. Just STOP caving. It does you no good.

I truly believe that had you stood up and really gone with your ideas, pushed for what you believed at one point is right,(like real universal health care...wanted by 70% of your country) you would not have been so clobbered in the election. We want a President with spine. One who will lead this country in a NEW direction....because the road we are on is never going to lead to anyplace I'd want to live.

24. I know you mostly care about investment bankers
but maybe you can try to have some empathy for the people who didn't and don't see you that way--the people hurting on main street.

Stop playing us--I know it's too easy---but get a conscience and do the right thing.

And tell the Republicans to go screw themselves. America will respect you for it.

26. Listen to the people
Stop with the hands-across-the-aisle, bi-partisan shit. It doesn't work.
Get tough. Pull the Democrats into line and pass some goddamn legislation that works for the people.
Step away from the DLC and screw the Republicans and the blue dogs who are left.
Impeach at least one and maybe two Supremes and revoke corporate personhood.
National health care.
Bring the jobs back.
Stop the wars wherever they are.
And remember just who put you in office in the first place.
