MSNBC: Obama has to move to the center
WTF? If he is already in the center why would he have to move? The answer is that based on the lies of repubs and their friends in the media Obama is a left winger, so in the media's, including MSNBC's, fantasy world Obama has to move to the "center." I cannot think of one thing that Obama did that would put him in the left winger category. In fact, in many ways Obama is right of center!

45. Yeah. Teabaggers think W was too center-left, too
And they were wrong, too.

Pretending there's a single left/right spectrum that politicians can be placed on is broken. Obama has historically very high favorable ratings; Congress doesn't. I don't think the President needs to do anything, really: Congress needs to get off its ass and do its job.

5. This is what the election bought them. More talking time on the media for propaganda.
If this is not corrected and outlets for free speech for the left is not found, game over.

of the concept of the "corporate takeover" of the public airwaves.

Without some sort of restraint on Corporate ownership and power, we have no "free press" and the airwaves have become nothing more than a corporate (Republican) mouthpieces.

Fox is only the most obvious....All of the televised media, Cable and networks (MSNBC PM aside)have been "cheerleading" this Repuke "takeover" for months now.

In contrast, I want to ask?...Does anyone remember ANY of this "buildup" going into the '06 Midterms?....I don't..In fact, they not only only did little to nothing of this year's "horse race punditry", they were especially "low key" after we won the house.

It doesn't, imo, take a long look at the "big picture" here to see that our constitutionally mandated "free press" is GONE.

Whatever needs to be done to reverse this, whether it be breaking up of the monopolies, re-instating some sort of Fairness Doctrine, or something else entirely -- I contend that we are screwed until it happens.

I love Rachel and Keith, but I COULDN'T STAND IT when they bashed Obama all year long. IT'S AN ELECTION YEAR!! Then, suddenly, in the last couple of days before the election, they started reading off his long list of accomoplishments. President Obama was in a losing position the minute he took office because our party is a bunch of unherdable cats with so many issues that could not possibly all get the attention that is demanded.

Whiners. Whiners on OUR SIDE is what lost the election. And the MSM fed into it and the tea party idiots were the exclamation point on the LIE that Americans were not happy with the direction the President has been taking us.

21. That's it in a nutshell.
The question is, will Rachel and Keith attempt to balance out FOX by pointing out what the tea party republicans are really trying to do, or will they attack our guys like they've been doing for the last 2 years? 2012 is on the line. RIGHT NOW. Fox will be working overtime to ensure tea party/republican victory. We need SOMEONE to step up and balance them on the other side. Even Ed Schultz bashes the President. I HATE that guy.

11. on the whole political spectrum, he is still left of center.
I dont really see how you can argue that Obama is already at the center. On a scale of 1-10 (10 being most liberal), I would say Obama is at 6.5 (a little higher on some issues). If you ask a Republican, they will say he is a 18; a Democrat would likely say he is a 5. Dont forget how far to the right some of this nation is. There are some parts of America that believe Obama is a Muslim, or that 9/11 was an inside job.

Moving to the center (a la Clinton) would work in 1994. But many of the Republicans elected yesterday ran a campaign that focused on not working with Obama. I don't really know if they would cooperate with him if he moved to a 4 on that scale. Many people were voting against Obama, not for a candidate. If these candidates want to keep their constituents happy, they will have to oppose Obama at all costs.

27. I would agree that he is slightly left of center.. which is where the country is.
We ARE a center-left nation and we must be governed from center-left or we lose. The tea party/repubs only chance to win is to try to be center-right..and the republican party establishment KNOWS it, but they also know they can't get passed the primaries with center-right candidates.

a center-left president and a center-right congress could get some things done. but the tea party will not allow the repukes to move toward the center. they know they would be voted out in the primaries if they did move toward the center.

Just kidding. Of course, the narrative is that having refused to work with the NOPE party for the last two years, Obama must now reach out and do exactly what they tell him to do.

And good ol' Harry is playing the 'lets all work together' violin right on queue. We are the worst major political party in the history of politics.
