The other one is Ed Schultz.

Even Joe Scarborough started learning to pronounce our state correctly in 2008. I never thought that would happen. Why do so many eastern talking-heads think they can continue to mispronounce western states like Nevada and Oregon, while laughing at backwards yokels who mispronounce east-of-the-Mississippi states like Illinois? I don't know which is worse, ignorance or arrogance.

I pronounce Oregon like AURA-GUN.

I guess I pronounce it the old way because that's the way it was pronounced by EVERYONE, including Nevadans, when I was growing up. I'm all for pronouncing names of places correctly. Trust me: I hate hearing my Southern brethren say, "Iz-Rail" for Israel, for example, but, in this instance, you have to admit that the pronunciation of that state has changed quite a bit over the past couple of decades.

And, Oregon? Is there another way to pronounce that now? And I agree about Illinois. Never put the "ess" on it in my life. Of course, I live in Ten-NAH-see. ;)
