6. That's my method, too.
I won't hit the "Democrat" button for that very reason. I go through each individual race for the opportunity to vote against a Republican candidate when there is no Democrat in the race.

I live in GA, one of the reddest of states. But today I'm fervently hoping the good people of Nevada don't send that fruitloop to the Senate!

my husband, myself and our 20 year old daughter voted. Today my 93 year old mother will go to the polls in Missouri and vote a straight Democratic ticket which she has done her entire life. We will survive whatever happens. Good god, if we could survive 8 years of Bush, we can survive anything.......and his Ranger's lost. Go Dems!

I requested a paper ballot, but I'm not sure if they were prepared for that.

I finished voting & put it in an envelope, and then the poll worker put it on top of the same filing cabinet where they were storing the envelopes. There was no special box or container for them, so I'm not sure what's going to happen to it now.

I called 866-OUR-VOTE and they told me not to worry.

But this is the same county that stole the '04 election, btw. Boy do I feel stupid.

49. I like the way we do it
We have paper ballots that are counted by machine. Fill in the bubble with black ink. The machine counts it and stores the ballot in a locked box. That way there IS a paper trail so manual recounts are possible.

Being in the IT world, I don't trust pure electronic voting at all. My precinct did have a voting machine, but all it did was mark the ballot, you still had to have it counted the same as everyone else.

Oh yeah, and I put my ballot in D to move forward.

Dan Malloy, Richard Blumenthal, John Larson, and the rest of the Democratic ticket all got my vote.

Turnout was pretty light, as it usually is in Hartford. There were about 6-7 other people voting at the same time as I did.

28. Voted for Jack Conway here in Lexington
I was excited to vote this morning. Then I got to work and a Republican-leaning co-worker told me that her virulently Republican husband voted for Conway as well as her. We will see if a small ray of hope like that means anything, but Rand Paul is too crazy for some Republicans it seems.

Refused touch screen and requested paper. Yes, it is read by ES&S machine, but at least it was something I marked and I reviewed and I watched go into the machine. How it is counted is most probably another story, but not for here.

39. I voted Sunday..dropped my ballot in the box outside the Courthouse
Although Washington State's mail-in voting is very good for turnout/participation...I really DO miss getting dressed up, going to the high school gym, signing the registration book and pulling the curtain to cast my vote.
I miss visiting with friends and acquaintances standing proudly in line with me, putting the "I voted" sticker on my collar and then heading to the cafe for breakfast and coffee.
But it DID feel good to fill in the square for Patty Murray...oh yeah and fuck you Dino Rossi.:-)

56. NJ-7. No waiting.
In 11 years of voting in my NJ-7 precinct, I had no waiting at all at 9:15 a.m., my usual time. Usually, there's a healthy number of people there, no matter the year, and it was packed, with a line going out the door, during the '08 presidential.

It's a beautiful day here in Western Washington. The sun is coming up, the clouds are a pinkish-vanilla color, the sky is blue, and the awful, endless, torrential rains of yesterday are but a memory.

Let's keep things Democratic in this country. The repukes are doing everything they can to turn us into a third-world country. Let's keep striving to prevent the fifth-rate, bankrupt, despairing nation they want us to become...

We can do it.

Yes, we can... B-)

because I don't have amnesia and certainly am not a resident of
the state of denial and knowing that I'm not a corporation, nor am

sure I voted correctly when I cast my vote, I'm also pretty confident

102. I voted two weeks ago via mail....and I voted Republican...
in one local race. It was the Country assessor. The incumbent is an R and she has done a very good job of keeping property assessments in-line with actual values, adjusting them up and down in a fair and even handed manner. I voted for her for that reason, and because no one was running against her.

Other than that, mine was a straight Democrat vote down the line.....

Charlie Baker (R gubernatorial, faux-populist-pseudo-"nice guy" (not) candidate) was there, with TV and photographers . . :puke:
It's a normally D precinct, so hopefully most voters, like myself, paid him and his PR machine no mind.

No line, but, judging from number of parked cars and people coming in and out, looks like healthy turnout.

Voted in Colorado's second largest and most conservative city...I had to wait in line at 7:30....and NEVER had done that before even with Obama's election.

Hard to say if it might meen a surprise for democrats...or just evidence of a pukey bloodbath....I will say there appear to be a lot more republicans that question how well republicans have delivered on their promises....

Get out the vote!

They just suck the ballot in without showing you what actually got scanned and then allowing you to confirm it, useless pieces of shit.

I want my big clunky lever machines back, at least you saw who you were voting for and the experience ended with a loud satisfying thunk like you just closed the door on a 57 Chevy.

Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 02:47 PM by EFerrari
I ordered up a mail in ballot when I changed my registration -- about a minute before the deadline -- and fully expected to get one for next time. But they turned it around in less than a week!

Lots of signs up here in the hills, looks like business is going well. :)

Just could not bring myself to even leave it blank. So good luck Seamus!! You got four votes from this household as the rest of the family liked the idea! All of the rest of our votes were straight Dem, so triple good luck to Russ Feingold, Tom Barrett, Steve Kagen and Penny Bernard Shaber!!

Anecdotally, our polling place was more crowded than I have ever seen it and there was a line for people who needed to register as new voters, and this was at 11 a.m. That's usually a very slow time for us. The volunteers said turnout was heavy.

I sure hope this is good news for us!!

212. Did my duty before work
Voted before work, about 8 am. Hardly anyone there. Many people at work commented on my "I voted" sticker. On my way home from work, I stopped at the local party store for evening cocktail mix. The young man behind the counter noticed my sticker and excitedly said, "You voted!?!" "Yes," I responded, pointing to my sticker. "Where can I vote? Do I just stop in at any school?" I found his questions disturbing, but politely explained how he could find out his polling place. Sigh. It occurred to me afterward that I should have asked his political leanings before offering assistance. But, I only do evil on Thursdays.

Kind of encouraging because my precinct/district is heavily right-wing Cuban Mafia GOP.

How bad is it? This bad:

Mario Diaz-Balart wins brother's House seat

"Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) won the seat once held by his brother Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R) Tuesday, as was expected. Lincoln Diaz-Balart announced his retirement earlier this year, and his brother opted to run in his district, which leans more Republican."

and avoided the chaos of our completely stupid expensive optical scan system. Just filling in the circles slows down the process then pray for the scanner to accept the ballot into digital limbo.

Things look good in NY except of course the rep seats in gerrymandered districts. The margins of loss there might convince the redistricters to surrender the Dem hostages.

All told politics is local and the NY GOP was almost worse than the Tea Party in general as far as competence goes.

All things considered most of the traditional and New Democrat abetted losses aren't as bad. Maybe they might try: election reform, media reform and populist stances in some sort of attempt at real political competence. The GOP just made noise to get the "change" dues it does not deserve and everyone except real people chipped in for life support.

For me, since Nixon: First order of business always- finish off the GOP. It could be so much easier than trying to get reforms past their corrupt office holders.
