Washington Senate Race--Tied?
The latest polls are showing that Patty Murray and Dino Rossi are statistically tied heading into Tuesday. What's the deal here? I can't understand why Murray is having so much difficulty. Washington is a very reliable blue state and is generally left of center. What's going on here?

If we lose this race we could very well lose the Senate.

1. That's what I keep hearing. I'm trying to get my brother to send in
his fucking ballot and he keeps saying "I don't know what I'm going to vote for". I said, here, here's the Voters Pamphlet, here's a link to The Stranger, ask ME! If you do nothing else, vote for Murray!"

I'll get on him tonight. He'll vote Dem, but he's got to get the fucking ballot in the mail!

2. No way. If Rossi the loser wins this state is a laughing stock
He has lost two in the past few years. Sued our state over it. Is a slimebag nutjob. Fingers crossed that the liberals on the west side of the state (Seattle mostly) will eke out victory from the mouth breathers! It will be close. The last two were within 1000 votes...125 for the governor's race. And Rossi has big dirty money backing him. Karl Rove is running ads. The bankers and building contractors are trying to drum up support for him. Murray has backing of labor and unions. We are NOT gonna let that asscake Rossi win.

3. Washington State is schitzo
Half is deep red t-baggers, the other half Liberal or pragmatic dems. Who wins depends on turnout between the east and west. Look at the last Governor's election, Gregoire won by the slimmest of margins, over Rossi.

7. Not true. Was true during the first contest but not in 2008.

When the King Country ballots were all counted, it was closer to 9.

4. It's East and West
The west side of the state would go for Murray and the east side would go for Rossi. It probably depends upon who they polled.

6. Rossi was tied with Gregoire in pre-elections polls 2 years ago and then she won by 9 points.

I expect something similar this year albeit by a smaller margin this time around since the wave and the wind are not in our direction.

8. She won by 125 votes I think
After three recounts was it? It was the thinnest margin ever. And we sweat the whole time. Then that sore loser Rossi sued. He's a whiny bitch and needs to be given the message to get the fuck out of Dodge for good!!

10. Felt the same way about Massachusetts electing Brown
Emboldens the teabaggers to think they are taking over the Blue States.

15. The anti-government initiatives are worrying me
There are four:

Initiative 1053 will require a two-thirds supermajority in both houses of the Washington legislature to raise taxes. It's been approved three times and killed by the courts every time. It will almost certainly pass.

Initiatives 1100 and 1105 will close the state liquor stores and allow private industry to sell distilled spirits. My guess: 1100 passes--it also removes the ability of the state to set prices.

Initiative 1107 repeals the temporary sales tax on candy and the excise tax on bottled beverages that was implemented last year. It will also pass.

My feeling is, the people who come out to vote for those four bills will also vote for Dino Rossi.

16. Apathy can turn a blue state red. Remember, Republicans ALWAYS vote.
They do not have to get fired up. They just do it.
