Has Anybody Else Here Already Voted ??? - Turned Mine In Thursday (10/28)
So... Is early and/or mail-in voting available to you in your area?

And... have you taken advantage of it?

Me... Yes and yes.

Bowen, Bera, Boxer, Brown, and Bong Hits, LOL!!!

Lots of "B's" with "D's" behind them.

:D

If we're gonna win it, I'm glad it will be in our park.

39. Huh?
WillyT; I voted Friday and convinced my wife to do the same thing. First time we did absentee ballots. I was all urgent on her to get home, get her ballot signed, which did not arrive until Friday's mail, then I hurried her to fill it out, sign it, then I took them to the P.O., as the ballot had the message emblazoned on it to "MAIL BY FRIDAY BEFORE ELECTION."

Then we got a lovely robo call left by Jerry Brown's wife urging us to vote and the last thing her message stated was that absentee ballots could be dropped off in person at the polls on election day as well.

Willy, I was wondering about:

"At least we now know it's coming back to S.F.

If we're gonna win it, I'm glad it will be in our park."

If the Gigantes win the next two, which are also in Texas, they win, and the series does not return to SF, no?

Just sayin.

I'm an A's fan, so I have no skin in the game, but as a matter of regional pride, I sure hope they don't shit the bed in the WS like they have the last two times they appeared in it. Maybe this once the Giants can win a WS. If they did, it would be their first since moving to Cal and the first since 1954. The A's have won five WS championships just since they moved to Cal in 1968. At least the Gigantes have figured out that it is all mostly about pitching, pitching, pitching. Not a Mardi Gras Head with Raisinettes as a freak show for the masses. Four Championships, no Splash Hits.

Just my dos centavos

43. God My Math Has Been Sucking Lately... You Are Correct...
We'd have to lose one more to Texas to bring it back. Not sure I want to risk it either.

Maybe it's all the polling crap during election time that makes the math part of my brain shut down, LOL?

And thanks for voting!!!

48. But the real question is
Can the Gigantes defeat the curse of Bonds?

We shall see, and I sincerely do wish them all the luck in the world to do it.

What the A's lack in money, they make up for in heart.
What the Yankees lack in heart cannot be bought.

8. Tuesday. I always vote on Election Day. That way, I get to
have a look at the polling place and see if everything is going properly there and to see some of my neighbors in the precinct there at the same time. I will have talked to many of them in the past couple of months. For me, early voting takes away from the community acting on one day to elect its leaders and set policies, if there are referenda on the ballot. Anything that separates the voter from the experience of seeing his or her neighbors in the polling place is, for me, a negative trend.

I realize that early voting is popular with many people. I just don't like the lack of community action.

9. Regarding community action
I've voted early and will be driving voters to the polls on Tuesday. During any down time, I'll have voter guides with me, and plan to visit every convenience store, hair salon, and barber shop in the black community to encourage voting.

I call myself a one man ACORN group. Consider doing it yourself. In the black community, just say you're from the Democratic Party and you have voter guides and you make friends fast.

16. There are no polling places in my state.
Just drop-off boxes for those who wait until the last minute to vote. The rest of us mail ours in. I've done both; mailed it in with plenty of time to spare, and dropped it off because I waited until a mailed ballot wouldn't arrive in time.

I mailed by ballot in two weeks ago. The only real community action I've seen are the many robocalls picked up by my answering machine and the flood of republican signs everywhere. I did see ONE sign for one Democrat.

28. OK. Since you don't say what state you live in, which is fine,
I wouldn't have any way to know that. Personally, I think there is more opportunity for fraud in states that don't do election day voting, but that's just me. Every state has its own methods. Here in Minnesota, it's going to the polls. We have no early voting, although you can cast an absentee ballot if you have a reason to.

36. Ah, that's right. They went to that method of voting some time
ago, as I remember. Well, if there aren't polling places, you sure can't go to them on Tuesday, then. I wouldn't like that, personally. I really enjoy voting at my precinct's polling place. I try to go during a busy time, so I can see how things are going.

54. Then again, I never have to worry about
getting to work late, or having to leave early, to get to a polling place. Or about having some kind of malfunction of a machine at my polling place, or finding my name not on the list, or finding parking, or standing in line waiting to cast my ballot. I fill out the ballot when it's convenient for me. A stress-free experience.

I went on one of the first few days and it wasn't busy. Sniff.

I understand it's picked up a bit since then.

Ugly advertising has been fast and furious in this state, especially those CofC attack ads that have every race in the country against Nancy Pelosi.

Those dumbfucks just don't understand that voting with the Democratic majority is why we sent them there in the first place.

Edited on Sun Oct-31-10 01:14 PM by Fly by night
He is a personal friend of mine. And the TN DINOs ran a race-baiting, gays-hating, gun-fellating, clueless creationist cracker -- the son of a former DINO governor -- who I have nicknamed "Big Daddy Junior."

Predictions here are that BDJ will record the most humiliating loss of any D candidate since John Jay Hooker (a walking advertisement for stylish schizophrenia) ran wearing an Abe Lincoln costume and spending no money on his campaign back in 1998.

Unfortunately, we are primed to lose two (or maybe three) Congressional seats, mainly for two reasons. Our losing DINO candidates all ran as Attila the Hun Junior, and the Rethugs control our unverifiable voting machines.

It is a sad day in Mudville, TN (and everywhere else here.)

There's just something about going down to the UU church at the end of our street on election day, making small-talk with the poll workers, that just makes me feel good.

I should add that early voting is not always a good thing. I saw a comment posted at the Anchorage Daily News yesterday where someone said they had voted early for Lisa Murkowski and now really regret their vote and wish they had waited and voted for Scott McAdams. Especially in Alaska this year, the political landscape has changed from day to day, so it's been wise to wait until the end.

Like the other folks in Oregon my wife and I voted by mail. The wacko running against DeFazio is scary, the basketball player Republican Dudley is running a stealth campaign for governor. We voted D of course. I lived in Texas for over 20 years and only saw one D congressional candidate ever win - Martin Frost. So it's wonderful living here in Oregon where the mayor and every other winning candidate is a good D. I plan to keep it that way.
