The NEWS MEDIA is manipulating America
I think John Stewart got it right but it goes beyond what he said. The media isn't reporting the news, It is creating the news.

As Stewart said, they like to inflame people and they make money from an America that is fighting itself. But let's look at it in more detail.

The news media picked Bush as president. The anti-Gore bias was overwhelming. Especially during the recount.

The worked hard selling us on the Iraq war. If 25 right wingers rallied they got covered. If 100k of us rallied they didn't cover it. As with the Stewart rally, as he pointed out, 5 major networks weren't there. They were all there for Glenn Beck.

The Tea Party was created by the news media. Sarah Palin would have been forgotten as quickly as Geraldine Ferraro if not for the news media keeping her alive.

But a name almost never spoken anymore - Bush. And he's the one who caused this mess.

Now they are selling us on the idea that Democrats are going to lose Tuesday. And it's all media created bullshit!

You'll notice that they are not only all on the same script, but they even use the same phrases. "Republican Tsunami".

The media is a corporation. When a money interest wants news slanted a certain way they get the producers to tell the talent, usually large breasted women, what they script for the day is. And that's the slant they put on it. That is also why they all use the same phrasing.

Stewart got it exactly right. And when you think about it - why is the most trusted name in news a comedian? Is it because the pundits are really that stupid? Or is it because it's money that is talking?

4. Another Example - Obama
In 2008 the media had a love fest with Obama and a hate fest with Hillary Clinton. I think that regardless of which side you were on that we can agree that Obama got far better coverage.

I think that the news media was working for Republicans. I think that their reasoning was that an unknown inexperienced black guy was easier to defeat than a Clinton. They figured once Obama was nominated that McCain would beat him.

As we all know - it didn't turn out that way.

But now the media has turned on Obama back to the Republicans. Now it's all Obama's fault. Now it's the Democrat's fault. Obama and the Democrats have accomplished a LOT this session and they are trying to convince the voters that they did everything wrong.

5. And what adds to the tradegy is the fact that the public
believes the lies they spew. If we had a strong FCC some of the lies and hate and urgings to kill would be prosecuted.

7. that is not news
I listen/watch Democracy Now! everyday. Al Jazeera English occasionally. And of course DemocraticUnderground.com every hour... good enough to catch up with the world for me.

If more people stop watching those stupid tv, not supporting their advertisers, things may change... but I am pessimistic....

12. Just think about how much of the money you donate to a campaign
winds up in the corporate medias pockets. Whether we win or lose an election it's always a win/win for the MSM.

Imagine if for one holiday season we could all agree to turn off the MSM starting tomorrow. Send them a message

for the next election cycle.

13. Yes. They are. They have been for decades. In more ways
than you even begin to mention here. The money is talking. We do not have news. We have not had news in decades. We have propaganda from the corporatocracy. That's IT.

Google "Who Owns the Media", and notice who owns it. THAT is where the propaganda comes from, and anyone who takes very much of it as 'truth' is going to end up very ignorant and yes, that is how we ended up with GWB (with the election being made close enough to steal), and with the likes of Palin and the Teabaggers. Ignorance.

Remember that Carlin Rant?

Now is a good time to review it:

"It's called the American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it."

21. Their mission--just like every large corporation--is...
...to earn dividends for their shareholders. No more, no less. This fourth estate business went out with yesterday's trash, folks. Just like Citizens United and all the corporate $$$$$ working hard to steal our country out from under our noses, they have no problem hijacking what is not theirs if it profits them to do so. Plain and simple.

The sighs, the lock-box, the invented the Internet, and on and on. It was nauseating.

My political awakening, I have to say.

And there are some people like Gwen Ifill, for example, who I have never forgiven for the derision they directed at Gore.

They either know the election is fixed or they are blowing hot air.
I'm sick to death of them pretending they know what the voters will do. It's all opinion all the time.
The votes haven't been counted.

30. Katie Couric last Friday:"We are facing down another 9-11 as bomb laden planes
are on their way to God Knows how many American cities!"

And yet, I was called a shadowy tin foil hatter for calling bullshit on that. Turned it to CNN and they said no bombs, no bomb laden planes on their way.
The press trying to manipulate us? Only if you believe water is wet.
