Is sanity a Liberal position?
It seems like the Rally to Restore Sanity is considered a Liberal gathering. Is sanity a liberal position? I'm not seeing Republicans embracing the concept of sanity. They are more into the Party of Anger.

4. Gathering from Stewart's comments he thought it was
A gathering of pragmatic centrists.

Why 250 thousand pragmatic centrists would get together for
A garden party with yusef and ozzy is beyond me.

5. Stewart seems to be saying it is a moderate, apolitical position.
He spat his venom at both liberals and conservatives, so we are left with: people that just want to hang out at the Mall and listen to groovy jazz? Thanks for nothing Stewart you putz.

7. Really?
He's spitting at the 'extremists' on both sides. You really think 75% of the country just wants to hang out?

6. Progressives perhaps should be sane and rationale but neither side has a monopoly

And often the media only interviews the less rationale in each party

10. Why do you think it's called liberal education?
Of course reality has a liberal bias. The more you know of reality, the more you know of diversity.

The whole left-wing right-wing thing is a deeply flawed metaphor. It presumes, incorrectly, that we all have approximately the same goals and the same ideas about how to get there, and simply disagree about relative priorities.

There is no center, any more than there is a reasonable mean between intellectual discussion and head-stomping. What is this "center", head-butting?
