We held my Mother-in-Law's memorial service yesterday
She lost her battle against cervical cancer last week. The only "good" things about this is my wife was at her mother's side as she passed with granddaughters and a great grandson present. She donated her body to medical research to help those fighting still.

I was struck by the sheer numbers of people, young and old, who attended the memorial. Upon hearing various stories about Leona, I flashed back to seeing the movie "Big Fish" and how surprised the son was upon learning the "stories" he heard his father relate were really true and his father really did do amazing things.

Well, I learned yesterday that my Mother-in-Law was also a Big Fish.

I knew she was special but I did not know her from her childhood and of her philanthropic side until the stories came out at the memorial...she was amazing and I miss her.
