Toyota secretly bought problem cars, lawsuit says
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Toyota secretly bought back from U.S. consumers vehicles it found with speed-control defects as part of a strategy to hide unintended-acceleration problems from safety regulators and the public, a revised lawsuit claims.

The repurchase transactions included strict confidentiality agreements barring consumers from disclosing the problem to anyone and from suing the automaker, according to the amended class-action complaint.

6. Maybe larger than huge: massive fraud on the public who were hoodwinked imo
into thinking they were buying a high-quality car with a problem-fee history. :grr:

4. Remember that recently Johnson&Johnson's secret buyback was revealed.
Instead of notifying customers, J&J bought up all the tainted Motrin.

Wonder how many other companies are doing this?

Seems like every growing secret measures to keep the stock profits up.

7. see below
U.S. health regulators knew that Johnson & Johnson's McNeil unit was using a contractor to buy back potentially faulty batches of Motrin, although there was no formal agreement with the government, lawyers for the company told lawmakers.

Some new details are emerging about the way Johnson & Johnson decided to deal with some defective Motrin tablets in 2008. As we’ve reported previously, there is speculation that Johnson & Johnson tried to avoid recalling Motrin by hiring outside contractors to buy the product in stores.

and google has tons more

10. See why I am wondering if this is a new business model?
Fewer and fewer laws and regs being followed.
Makes me wonder when airline wings will start dropping off planes or nuke plants blowing up.
Is ANYONE actually following the law anymore?
