Police Consider More Arrests in Rand Paul Heckler Scuffle
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/ky-police-arrests-rand-paul-activist-assault/story?id=11986106

"At this point, the investigation is still ongoing," Lexington Police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts told ABC News. "We're looking into other individuals who may have been involved in the assault and could get charged."

A short, 50-second video clip of the scuffle shows a handful of people surrounding Lauren Valle, 23, a paid activist for the liberal group MoveOn.org, as she is pushed to the ground Monday.

The incident occurred as Paul was arriving for a debate with his Democratic opponent Jack Conway. The two men are campaigning for a Kentucky Senate seat.

1. My bet: No one gets charged with anything.
They'll drag the "investigation" out until after the election and then no one will care anymore.

2. I wasn't aware there had been an arrest.
Last I heard was about a "criminal summons".

3. I could send them a video that shows the perpetrators.
Or I could send them Sherlock Holmes' younger brother
to help them solve this mystery.

4. When they are done there, i know of another case of mass violence against innocent people.
There's this group of people called the Republicans who have been starting wars and killing people all over the place. You think the Lexington Police can expand their investigation that far?

Everyone involved with this assault needs to be brought before a judge.

6. MISDEMEANOR ASSAULT?????
No fucking way! That's insane! DU attorneys -- can you explain this to us??

Profitt was served a criminal summons Tuesday night and charged with a misdemeanor assault.

And is it true she was a "paid" activist? That sounds like such a RW charge, so am wondering if it's accurate.

7. It was aggravated assault because
they mentioned they might need to 'take someone down'
before the event... It is up to the district attorney to decide
what the crime is ultimately...... sounds like a lessor charge
to get the news off their back and say SOME JUSTICE was done.

I was pre-law and a criminal court coordinator for Houston
and my brother was a lawyer, prosecuting attorney and a judge.

It remains to be seen what Kentucky does with Justice these days.

8. Thanks - it gives me SOME hope that it's ultimately the DA's decision. Maybe
there will be so much media hoopla and pressure that they'll pump it up. I always assumed (I know) that whatever someone was charged with was it, period, so thanks for the education! :hi:

9. Well,I would google on WHO IS THE DA
Edited on Wed Oct-27-10 04:44 PM by Ichingcarpenter
I think its an elected position in that state, county or jurisdiction
which will be revealing on what happens.

The power of the local DA can be overridden by local and state politics.

If you noticed the Tom Delay Case and how it developed
It didn't come out of Houston but Austin.

10. I was almost there
I had a meeting with my advisor at teh community college right next to KET. I am glad I didn't stop there now. I am a bit of a hothead sometimes, and probably would have dragged one of those idiots off of here, and gotten myself arrested.

11. Like Big Ed was asking a few moments ago...how about that big dumb
cop that was just standing there, with his arms crossed, watching the melee? Seems if he'd have been doing something a little more useful, he'd have nabbed the violent campaign terrorists Profitt and the other two that I saw that were involved.
