"There's no correlation between inacceptance of homosexuality and depression and suicide," he says.

Rather, Perkins says, there is another factor that leads kids to kill themselves.

"These young people who identify as gay or lesbian, we know from the social science that they have a higher propensity to depression or suicide because of that internal conflict."

Homosexuality is "abnormal," he says, and kids know it, which leads them to despair. That's why he wants to confront gay activism in public schools. For example, his group supports the Day of Truth, when Christian high schoolers make their case that homosexuality is a sin.

he'd realize it's him and his ilk who are driving gay teens to suicide, by insisting on their alleged "abnormality" over and over again. Most of sane America has accepted the reality that homosexuality is a normal human variation; that it's innate and has always existed, just like left-handedness.

Even if every GLBT person on Earth died tomorrow, there would be just as many in the next generation. I'm old enought to remember when homosexuality was considered a neurosis, but that was decades ago. It's getting to the point now where to believe that being gay is somehow a "lifestyle choice" has about as much intellectual respectability as believing in a flat Earth or in "creationism." Except that it has even more tragic consequences.
