9. Channel Six (NECN) is reporting that the Packages Are Part of a Marketing Campaign for Cartoon
Network.....that's what the headline says. However, the commentators are still using the big "IF."

They're showing that little goofy cartoon that appears on Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Now we're off to a bullshit commercial....

Live at Five is coming up, we'll see what they say.....

3. No, we're getting this messed up. Someone took those advertisements...
for that cartoon and put them in boxes and hid them all over the city.

7. Yes- they've found these in several other states- Turner network
saying it was a "Publicity Campaign"-

The Boston news we get on our 'bunny-ear' antenna says CNN is breaking this news-

Crazy or what?

NEW: Aqua Teen Hunger Force Wreaks Havoc in Boston?
UPDATE: In their streaming newscast, WBZ has been showing the image of the "mooninite" from Aqua Teen Hunger Force. And, boy, is it funny to hear a straightlaced, gravitas-filled newscaster utter the words "Aqua Teen Hunger Force."

But we don't envy who is behind this promotion. Governor Deval Patrick is pissed....Someone with an eagle-eye recognized a pattern that showed up in an image from WBZ, which Bostonist is reproducing. Universal Hub is reporting that the pattern on the device is that of a mooninite, which has something to do Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but it's too early to tell. If this was done as part of a stupid marketing campaign, someone deserves an ass-kicking. That's what mySpace is for!

It's also possible someone was testing the city's emergency response. If so, you proved your point. The appropriate authorities moved swiftly to find out that your packages were fakes. Now don't ever do it again!

13. Sniffa, you'd better call the Boston Police and tell them where it is, just so they know
and can take a panicked call in stride.

16. That is EXACTLY how they wanted it to look! They probably wanted a lot of punch in the evening,
likely at the rush hour, when the thing would be most noticeable, I imagine.

I guess Turner Broadcasting has told all of the cops in all of the affected cities where the things are....but damn, I am astounded that not ONE COP knew what the thing was.

I am NOT young. Put it this way, I was at protests for another war, and against an active draft, and I subsequently ended up in the military for decades thereafter. But even I know what that thing is!! I didn't know that it was called a "Mooninite" before today, but I knew that it was the obnoxious character from Aqua Teen that looks like it came out of an ancient video game and it has a sqeaky voice.

You'd think there would be ONE cop on the force who might be sitting in the damned barcolounger at zero dark thirty watching that goofy program! After all, they do work shifts!!

Heck, maybe they need to have a few more kids from the criminal justice program at NORTHEASTERN doing ride-alongs so they they aren't so cut off from the popular culture!!

That said, I'm guessing if Turner is going to do any more oddball advertisements, they'll label their shit clearly in future (any questions about this device, call Turner Broadcasting at 1-800-AWW-SHIT).
