Wilson blasts Cheney as 'traitor'
Former CIA covert operations officer Valerie Plame, whose identity was revealed during a 2003 scandal regarding intelligence gathering prior to the Iraq war, and her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, are speaking out about what happened in the aftermath of the incident.

In an interview with CNN Anchor Wolf Blitzer in the Situation Room, Wilson called Vice President Dick Cheney a "traitor" and claimed Cheney "betrayed the national security of our country" for being involved in leaking Plame's covert identity.

Wilson insists Cheney was involved in the disclosure, although the only person who has admitted to breaking Plame's cover is Richard Armitage, the former Deputy Secretary of State who said he leaked her name inadvertently to journalist Robert Novak

2. Traitor is one of the kinder names one can give to that vile creature....
Edited on Wed Oct-20-10 03:36 PM by NRaleighLiberal
Dick Cheney, along with Bush, Rumsfeld, Rice and so many others in that cabal that drove our country into the ground for eight years, will go down in history as one of the darkest, most indelibly horrid elements of so-called "leadership" for our country.

7. I and everyone else has wondered why on
earth the bad boys have not been jailed. I remember when Watergate was over most people heaved a sigh of relief. But, actually, things were not over. They were put on simmer until the Bush clan took office. All those years the Republican bad boys were perfecting their takeover of our country. I know I sound paranoid but I really believe if we can't stop this crap soon they will take over. I have ground down my teeth over this. The media know what happened. You never hear them take any of them to task, but they will always tell us when the Democrats are losing or about to lose. Sometimes I wonder if I am in another universe.

14. I'm glad they are speaking out and speaking plainly. "Traitor" is the right word.
I wish they would also speak about this: Plame was outed on 7/14/03. Four days later, on 7/18/03, David Kelly was found dead, under highly suspicious circumstances, very likely murdered for something he knew about WMDs and Iraq. And four days after that, on 7/22/03, Novak additionally outed Plame's entire Brewster-Jennings network of "eyes and ears" on WMDs around the world (by naming the front company in his column--as if to make very sure that everybody in that network got "netted").

What is the connection, if any, between these events--the Plame/B-J outingS and Kelly's death, within four days of each other?

Probably Plame can't speak about it, if she knows anything. She is likely under a lifelong oath of silence. But I wish somebody would, if there is a connection, which I strongly suspect that there is. I don't think these dates are a coincidence.

------------------------

About Cheney's guilt: The CNN blog mentions Armitage's cover story, but fails to mention (in this quotation) that, when Patrick Fitzgerald indicted, prosecuted and jailed Scooter Libby, he said that there remained "a cloud over the vice president's office" and also said that Cheney was a "political problem," meaning out of his venue. (Cheney was an allegedly elected official, 2nd in line to the pResident.) The political realm, of course, did not pick up that ball--although I do think that something happened--way, way internally--to curb Cheney's power in the final two years of the Bush Junta and that it included ousting Rumsfeld. I think the military brass were involved, to stop Cheney-Rumsfeld from nuking Iran--but others may have been involved as well, notably Daddy Bush and one of his "Iraq Study Group" members, Leon Panetta, now CIA Director. I think Junior was in deep doo-doo over the Rumsfeld-Cheney war on the CIA and Daddy Bush intervened to save Junior's ass and to repair the damage to the Pentagon/CIA relationship. A sort of counter-coup, but not a democratic one. Rumsfeld resigned, Nancy Pelosi announced "Impeachment is off the table," the talk about nuking Iran went away and Cheney seemed significantly curtailed after that--circa late 2006.

Neither Wilson, Plame nor Fitzgerald has ever mentioned Rumsfeld as a perp in the CIA outings. But I have some reasons for thinking that he was involved--and perhaps the mastermind of it, with Cheney handling the political end (how to leak it, and the fallout and spin). Rumsfeld had created his own intelligence shop--his "Office of Special Plans"--and, of all the entities that were potentially up to no good regarding the Iraq War, Rumsfeld's OSP is candidate no. 1. They were the ones COOKING the intelligence, to GET AROUND the more honest professionals at the CIA. That gave Rumsfeld a very big motive for purging the CIA of those who thought that it was their job to prevent war, not to manufacture it. But there may have been more--that they weren't just cooking intelligence, they were intending to plant WMDs in Iraq, to be "found" by the U.S. troops who were "hunting" for them, possibly with WMDs trackable to Iran, in order to widen the war to Iran, then and there (May-July 2003). This is a possible reason why David Kelly was killed--not for what he'd said to the BBC (that the prewar intel had been "sexed up") but for what else he knew and, as a known (...ahem, outed) whistleblower, could not be trusted with. Kelly was a UN weapons inspector, and a top scientist in his field, with contacts in Iraq. He had supported the invasion but apparently had a change of heart after the invasion (--why? why did he start whistleblowing at that point (in May '03)?). The phony planting of WMDs is likely where a man of Kelly's character would draw the line. Did someone in the BJ network foil that plan--inadvertently or deliberately--that is, did someone stop illicit shipment of WMDs to Iraq that were intended for such a deception--and Rumsfeld and the Bushwhacks panicked about this, not knowing who did it, who knew about it and who might disclose it--and thus outed the entire BJ network of U.S. "eyes and ears" on WMDs around the world, and had Kelly murdered (already a whistleblower, "off the reservation")?

I wish that somebody with more knowledge of the inside workings of the U.S. government than I have would take a look at this--or perhaps those in England investigating Kelly's murder. Is there a connection between these events that occurred only four days apart--the Plame outings, Kelly's death?

against US Sanctions..I would suggest that is bordering on treason as well.
