Pres. Obama, you want a morale booster for the military?
Imagine this:

Qualified gay and lesbian men and women streaming into military recruitment centers, EAGER to fight for their nation; a nation entrenched in two miserable wars with forces and resources stretched thin.

Imagine this:

Being on the frontline for God knows how many tours, wondering if you'll ever be able to go home and stay home when your gay and lesbian brothers and sisters step up and say, "I'd be honored to take some of the load off your shoulders".

This is what is happening RIGHT NOW. Why would anyone, particularly any Democrat, want to put an end to this?

Pres. Obama, for the sake of our men and women and uniform and our country, end the appeals to reinstate DADT. No "political solution" is worth the harm this would cause.

LET THEM SERVE...NOW!

4. Unfortunately for Obama, the end of DADT just happened without him.
Another example of our Fierce Advocate in Chief letting history pass him by.

5. DADT
It may be more complex than this -- obviously, going through the court(s) the issue will eventually wind up for consideration by the Roberts Supreme Court. Are you really convinced they will not uphold the current law? (If the Congress repeals its own law, then there is no need for a "constitutional" challenge before a possibly unfavorable court.)

7. This is one case where I think the current SCOTUS will get it right.

Kennedy has historically been the swing vote in favor of gay rights. But in this case, the Constitutional violations are so egregious that it may end up 6-3 or even 7-2 in our favor. Scalia and Thomas will always vote for hatred and stupidity, but Roberts and Alito may be smart enough to realize that upholding DADT would effectively put their names on a modern Dred Scott decision.

9. Funny, most of my friends who served went in conservative and came out liberal.
Of course, I probably self-select for left-leaning friends, but I wonder if that's a trend in the military.

10. I know a lot of conservative vets from all ranks
But I live in a very red area, WITH an AFB, AND with defense contractors like Northrup.

I know what you mean about self-selecting. My best friend is a liberal VN vet who was hired this year as PTSD Counselor at our brand-new Vet Center.

OTOH, my OTHER best friend is a moderate conservative who will retire soon from his job as an engineering project leader at Northrup. He also happens to be the leading veterans activist in our community, chairing or co-chairing our Moving Wall, our quarterly Outreach to homeless vets (formerly Stand Down), and the local Point Man Ministries group, as well as serving as the VVA chapter's Chaplain and much more. We do a lot of vet work together and we do talk politics, but we never let our political diferences come between us. And the same is true of my other conservative vet friends.

11. Thank you.
It just seems to me that, besides being a blatantly wrong thing to do from a civil rights standpoint, denying any qualified person from serving at this time is a slap in the face to both our soldiers and their families who have already sacrificed so much and for so long.
