He said there were WAY more than 35,000 people there. He said the line to get in was over 2 miles long. Does that sound like "apathetic, unenthusiastic Democrats" to you?
What's really funny is that about 2 days before the rally, my Bush-can-do-no-wrong, never-ever-turn-off-Faux-News-ever father-in-law told my wife that there was (and I quote), "No way Obama would show his face here in Ohio. People here HATE him. He'll send his wife because she's more popular than he is." Later that day, it was confirmed that he WAS, in fact, coming, and then when the rally was over, they announced the attendance figure at 35,000 people (which, again, I think is a very low estimate). But, undaunted, he continued on with his diatribe yesterday, announcing that the Republicans were going to sweep EVERY race in Ohio, and that Obama's approval rating in Ohio is 33%. When my wife asked me if this was true, I told her I was sure it wasn't, but then I looked it up and found out that his approval rating in Ohio is somewhere around 48% (even the Faux News poll showed his approval rating at 38%, so where he got that 33% number, I have no idea).
You can tell the right-wingers are scared, because they're really starting to lay on the propaganda thick. It's almost like they're hoping that if they just keep saying it louder and louder, and more and more often, they can make it come true. In truth, they're just setting themselves up for one huge disappointment.
And the way I see it, even if the Republicans manage to win some of the key races here in Ohio, it will be the shortest-lived "resurgence" you've ever seen in your life. Because people are soon going to realize that these dummies have NO PLAN other than to attack and oppose the Democrats' plans. And that doesn't work when YOU'RE the one who's supposed to be doing something. Big Republican wins in 2010 will spell a HUGE win for the Democrats in 2012, so either way, we're fine.
